“orange squash pretending to be orange juice”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2011

Only in Venice is such a hotel possible. A hotel of this standard in any other city would be pushing it to charge a quater of what Belle Arti manages to get away with.

Do yourself a favour and research the hotels properly in Venice, there are fantastic 4 star places for the same price range. I have no idea how this can be a three star hotel.

Service is a joke and rude at times. Breakfast verges on inedible with orange squash pretending to be orange juice, and milk that is watered down. The rest of the food is stale and cheapest possible.

Room Tip: don't stay at Belle Arti

“Cutting corners elevated to an art form”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2011

Everything in this hotel is cheap but its location. Because of its location the owners can afford to cut corners on just about everything else. Let's start with the bedroom: the smallest room I have ever been in a 3 star hotel: not even enough room to open a suitcase properly, not enough room to put two toothbrushes in the bathroom. There was no fridge. There was a 1980s TV set. There was fake brocade collecting dust everywhere. Let's go to the breakfast room: fake coffee, chemical cordial passing as orange juice, teapots that could not pour, and on the table plastic flowers of the kind one finds in cemeteries. Let's go to reception: only one of the concierges speaks English.

it was clean, cheap, the stuff was very friendly (they recommended us some restaurants and bars and they were all great) , the breakfast was very good, not too rich but the cakes and the croissants were fresh and very nice.

“Pleasant Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

I was recommended this hotel my someone who stayed here the weekend before I planned to visit. So I booked it up straight away and was then rather worried to see so many poor reviews.

I booked a single room for one night, the bed was big (a queen or king sized one) the room was clean as was the bathroom. The décor was a little dark, but drawing the curtains or turning on the light solved that problem. After reading some of the reviews, I was scared that I'd open the door and it'd hit the bed. But no! There was plenty of space.

The breakfast was okay (I'm no fan of continental breakfast), the hot chocolate was lovely!

The staff were all helpful and polite.

For €50 a night in somewhere like Venice, I really don't think you can expect much more.

“The Belle Arti is a lovely hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

My husband and I stayed nearly a week at the Belle Arti - in the core of the academic centre of Venice. The hotel is a wonderful surprise -just off the waterbus stop from the airport and right next door to the centre in which our conference was held. A short but lovely walk of some fifteen minutes gets you to Piazza San Marco. The room was small but the bed was large and excellent. Same for the bath - but all spotlessly clean. Staff were reserved but friendly when approached. The Night Managers especially helpful with restaurant recommendations and reservations. The hotel has a beautiful courtyard right at the entry, a lovely setting for breakfast or a late night drink with friends. This is a typical European hotel - smaller than most Canadian rooms but with charm.
