“Great location, breakfast, comfort.”

Venice is small - easy to walk anywhere, from anywhere, so it is not necessary to be in the Piazza San Marco area, as some reviews suggest. Pensione Accademia is very close to the Accademia bridge and its Vaparetto stop ( BTW, you should definitely buy a Vaparetto pass for the duration of your visit, and you can do so at this stop). Much shopping, many good places to eat nearby. The Pensione has a very nice breakfast buffet and a little lounge for your afternoon Spritz or Prosecco. Probably even better outside on the canal-side terrace, but too cold during our January visit. Helpful staff. Our room, #12, was good sized and comfortable, with a very nice bathroom. The room did face the canal, and the boats do
" beep" as they enter the Grand Canal just around the corner, but not before about 8 AM. Other than the 8 AM boat horn, the room was very quiet. Taverna San Trovaso just across the canal was very good - we ate there twice in a week's stay.

Room Tip: No elevator, but the staff will help with your luggage.

“A Venetian Dream”

We stayed here before a Mediterranean cruise. The staff was extremely friendly and professional. They speak English which really helps! The breakfast spread was quite impressive. They offer both American and European breakfast buffets. All fresh, all delicious. The small windows in your room open up over the small canal and it is like waking up in the Venetian dream you never thought possible. Tucked away in a corner off the grand canal, it is an easy walk to many of the Venice highlights. What enchanted me the most were the gardens. It was like an oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle. It is a tranquil escape from your travels and a great place to have breakfast in the morning. Our room was quite spacious compared to other European hotels. I highly recommend this charming and quiet hotel.

“An oasis in Venice”

Usually in Venice, lodging plays second fiddle to the city’s magical sights; that was certainly the case during my first visit when I stayed at a non-descript hostel as a college student. This time, almost 25 years later on a trip with my husband and two kids, my main regret is that we didn’t stay longer, so we could have spent more time at the Pensione Accademia, to simply relax and enjoy the hotel’s pleasant tranquility.

The location of Pensione Accademia, in the quieter Dorsuduro neighborhood, is perfect. It’s about a 5-minute walk from the Accademia vaporetto stop (and the famous Gallerie dell’Accademia), though if you’ve got luggage with wheels, be prepared to navigate cobblestoned walkways, stairs, and a bridge. Once situated, we could easily reach the main attractions by foot (about 15 minutes from Piazza San Marco, which you should visit at dawn for the best experience.) We had a great time wandering (and getting lost!) in the near-empty streets of the even less touristy neighborhoods adjacent to the Dorsudoro.

The staff at Pensione Accademia is top-notch – very professional and attentive. They were helpful with dinner suggestions and can arrange for tickets to concerts and other cultural events. The daily afternoon tea is a nice touch and makes for a relaxing sight-seeing break.

Our room, a junior suite to fit the four of us, was on the ground level, with a lovely patio just off the inner courtyard and gardens. The courtyard has plenty of space for kids to run around and quiet spots for reading and just hanging out. The area around the front entrance also has a lovely sitting area next to a quiet offshoot of the Grand Canal. Sitting there, sipping a glass of wine and watching the boats glide by, was as much a Venice highlight as the obligatory gondola ride.

Venice was sheer perfection thanks largely to the hotel and staff. Just out of the tourist masses, you felt like a Venician. Close to the Accademia, Guggenheim, vapporetto stops; a 15 minute walk to San Marco Square. We stayed five days and nights in a two room suite off the garden. With it's charm, cleanliness, spacious rooms, returning after a day of sighseeing was a welcome respite. The gardens are lovely, many places to sit and enjoy the views. The staff is helpful, courteous, easy to talk with. I called prior to my trip and made a booking, secured with an email, it was that simple. The other guests seemed to have the same attraction, as we shared our delight in finding this gem. I would not stay or reccommend any other hotel in Venice for future trips or to a freind that might visit.

Room Tip: we requested a two room suite that was converted into two bedrooms. Not having to walk upstairs was...

“Convenient and spacious”

My friends (there were 4 of us) stayed in a 2 room suite at the Pensione Accademia in February. The room was large and comfortable, though plainly furnished. The room is just offa garden/courtyard that must be very pretty in the Spring. The pensione perfectly suited our purposes just fine as we didn't spend much time in the room (except me because I was sick in bed for most of the trip!) and it was a good deal for the four of us. Also, it's in a great spot and on a quiet street close to Dorsudoro. There is a great wine store/cicceti bar nearby. I thought the neighborhood was perfect. There is a decent breakfast and afternoon tea. Internet access is quite expensive.
