“No staff at the hotel, couldn't get in”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Despite booking a hotel room and arriving at 3:50pm, I was unable to enter the locked hotel gates. Despite pressing the buzzer and calling the hotel multiple times, there was no answer. I could see inside that there was no-one at reception, and clearly no-one was monitoring their phone lines. I waited for over an hour, and after this booked another hotel. When I finally got in touch with Villa Edera, they were unwilling to cover any of the costs incurred in making such a late hotel booking. They were also quite rude and failed to appreciate the amount of time they had cost us between waiting for them + finding new accommodation, particularly given the limited time we had in Venice.

I recommend not staying here, especially in winter, as the property is clearly not a priority for the owners. The front desk is also definitely NOT attended 24 hours as advised on booking.com - it was unattended the whole time I was waiting and even when I returned at 8pm I could only talk to someone via the phone.

“Cute,cosy,and very green.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

The staff are ok.
The hotel rooms are nice but they are bit small , however
they have a very venetian character. The breakfast room is
very sunny , and there is an outdoor garden with lovely
hydrangeas.Lots of options in terms of food .

Located 20 min away from the main station by a water taxi,
and a 5 min walk from the beach on Lido which is an island off of the main Venice island.I highly recommend staying there.

“room very small and shower tiny.Overated and overpriceed”

We paid extra to have the room at the top with a huge terrace...we contacted the hotel direct to do this. The room was really small and the you could barely move in the small bathroom, having a shower over the half a bath was nearly impossible. The airconditioing was very noisy and didnt really work so we had to leave the door open but then it was too noisy from outside. We could hear the delivery to to the supermarket each morning early even though it was on a different side to us ......it was not a restful stay and we would never stay here again. Some staff at reception were very helpful..Thomas I think his name was but the woman staff was bordering on rude.Breakfast was horrible..cheap cheese and ham and bread.

thank you for posting your review.
We are really sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at Villa Edera.
The room on the upper floor with roof terrace is our most requested room. In fact every year frequent guests of the Hotel ask specifically for this room and they never had nothing to complain about.
Since you asked directly and specifically for the room above mentioned, and since you've never stayed with us before, we think you read or heard some good reviews on this accomodation..
Your expectations were probably bigger than the real things, and undoubtely influenced your opinion to some member of the staff and to the breakfast.

“Would give this one a miss”

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and although the room was very clean it was so small that you could hardly move around the room. There was a tiny wardrobe which wasn't large enough to hold our clothes and there were no drawers so we had to leave everything in our cases on the floor. Our main concern was the breakfast. The choice available was ok but could have been better but it was the way the tables were left with dirty crockery and left-over food. The first morning we sat outside and there were several tables which hadn't been cleared so this was attracting pigeons which was pretty disgusting. We thought the next day would be better so we sat inside but it was the same again, dirty tables outside with pigeons and other birds on them and even inside the tables weren't cleaned as guests left the dining room and when other guests arrived for breakfast there was nowhere for them to sit and no clean cutlery or crockery. It was really disgraceful for a so called 3 star hotel. Also the coffee and hot water for the tea came in pots without lids so soon went cold. It was no better the last morning and the young waiter didn't seen to know what to do and just kept walking past the filthy tables without bothering clearing them. It was really disgusting and because of this we won't be staying there again.
