My girlfriend and I stayed at Giardinetto for five nights in August 2007. We found it to be a good budget hotel for a relatively small price.

The location was perfect; from our room we had a great view on Venice and it took only about ten minutes to get to St. Mark's Square. There is a small supermarket just around the corner from the hotel and various places that sell AWESOME icecream and pizza.

The staff of the hotel/b&b was very helpful too. One night my girlfriend had a severe headache but we didn't have any painkillers. A member of the staff (I don't remember his name) gave her one. We were also given a device to keep the mosquito's out.

The room itself was small and looked dated, but it had everything you need and, more importantly, it was clean.

We are visiting Venice again this summer. We really want to stay inside the city itself this time around, but if you're looking for a budget hotel on the Lido with easy access to Venice proper, you can't go wrong with Giardinetto.

Stayed here in oct 2008 and loved every minute,the hotel is not great but it is value for money room was ok and kept cleen with very small bathroom,staff were great with the limited english they spoke.Area was fantastic lovely beach just less than 10mins walk down a friendly bar and resteraunt lined street and even in october had a great swim in the sea as weather was still warm.outside the hotel water busses leave every few minutes to the main island,get a pass when you arrive at venice to save money the water bus is the best way to get around. venice is fantastic place to visit and well worth seeing the sites,if you are like me and enjoy an evening drink then choose were you drink carefully as many places dont have public toilets, but dont let that put you off the wonderful sites of venice

This hotel is located on an island (Lido) that is definitely some distance away from the St Marks Square but it is well connected by the public (ie; cheap) vaporette. In fact, the hotel is just opp the main boat-stop.

A great budget option..... and walking distance from the only beach in Venice!

Stayed at this hotel very recently during a quick visit to venice, basically we were only there for 3 days.

The hotel itself is located on LIDO a small island opposite ST Marks Sq. The Island is reached either by private taxi (very expensive or 12 euros for public boat, which takes an hour from Marco Polo airport) once you reach LIDO the hotel is only a 2 min walk.

Hotel itself is well located in terms of main town area, and restaurants, basically on main strip which feels very safe and the beach is right at the end, a 5 to 10 min walk.

But hotel is quite shabby, old musty feel think brighton style hotels, with funkily padded walks, i assume to cover the damp or stains, bathroom as said by other reviewers is tiny, like a walk in closet. Bed wasnt to bad, linen was clean, didnt try the breakfast, literally cornflakes, tea and a few crossiants no toast or fruit or usual hotel fare.

If you can find other would advise, hotel belgrade next door looked better!
