We happened to visit Venice during the annual Regatta and had a very difficult time finding a reasonably priced place to stay. By default we found a room here, and negotiated the room price down by 50 euros (still very expensive), but we had an incredible view of the Giudecca Canal and the lagoon since the hotel was right on the edge of the water. We had a 3rd floor corner room and because of this, had 2 windows facing the grand promenade and 3 windows facing the lagoon. The room was very spacious, filled with antique furniture and artwork so we had the impression of living like Louis XIV. Our bathroom was as big as some hotel rooms in Italy. The very old hotel has some of the best energy efficiency upgrades, such as you have to insert your room card in a wall slot to get the lights and power in the room to work. Needless to say the room was extremely comfortable with slippers and robes provided. Late night we bought a bottle of wine, sat on our balcony, people watched on the promenade. We awoke to see the Regatta unfolding before our eyes from our hotel windows. Included in the room price was a free drink at the rooftop bar/restaurant and a very lavish breakfast spread. Very pricey room but if you want to live it up once in your Italian trip I highly recommend it!
Room Tip: Our corner room on the third floor was the best for a view and people watching from the balcony.
