“Excellent - we emphatically reccomend this hotel!”

This is Venice; it is old and cramped, but exquisitely stylish. So is this hotel

Conveniently located 10 mins and only 1 bridge from the railway station; grocery stores, banks and coffee shops close by. Rooms small but perfectly adequate and clean; attractively priced

No internet AT ALL - but this is Venice, so why would you want to be online when there is so much to see all around you?

Buffet breakfast is absolutely fantastic, though the coffee machine is slightly scary

“If only I could think of something good to say!”

There was an in-room safe if you laid on the floor to access it. It is near the train station

Other than that....

It is an old historic hotel that desperately needs to be refurbished. It is not directly on the canal; perhaps that is a good thing as we only had a few mosquitos in the room. There are no screens on the windows so to get fresh air, they need to be opened. Our room had windows on three sides, though there were no views.

There is no wi-fi period. If you want to submit a credit card to a off-site provider, that is possible. The hotel will provide no assistance with this.

Many travelers are not in the habit of leaving the key in the lobby when going out. However, the night manager who had multiple times to be nice (and failed each time) verbally attacked us for not leaving the key with him when we left.

There are no coffee/tea-making facilities, and the breakfast-to-go bag was minimal at best.

There has to be a better place to stay.

“Loved this place!”

We really loved our room. The breakfast room is fantastic. Don't miss the courtyard where you can sit outside. When we arrived, we walked to the hotel from the bus that brought us from the airport for only 5 euros. Then when we left, walked to the train station. convenient. During our stay, we found it an easy walk to the major sites.

“Not quite 4 stars but good enough”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

Location-wise, this hotel is great because it's just a maximum 10-minute stroll from the train tation, at the same time, it's quiet enough that your sleep won't be interrupted. We found the staff helpful and accomodating. The elevator and rooms were quite old, there were stains on the carpeted floor, but the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was, while not large, spacious enough. Breakfast was very generous, more than just a simple continental breakfast. If you're looking for luxury, this hotel won't be for you, but when you're in Venice (especially if you're in the city for the first time) you'd want to see as much as possible anyway and won't be indoors much - that being said, this hotel more than just serves its purpose.

“Just ok...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

I wouldn't rate this hotel as a 4 star hotel. Very nice breakfast and breakfast garden area, staff was decent, very conveniently situated by the train station so no need for taxi boat. Didn't like that there were no irons in the rooms, you have to use their laundry service. Very outdated/old looking. Far walking distance to St. Marks Square so be prepared. I would probably take bus service outside of train station, but they were on strike while we were there so we were stuck walking. Probably over an hour walk to get there.
