“A fabulous alternative to the overpriced”

24 years ago we stayed at the Bisanzio while on our honeymoon. Back then we had felt let down by the Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal (service, room size, cleanliness) and after a bad night we stumbled upon the Bisanzio just on the other side of St Mark's Square as an alternative. Our memories of the liberating unpretentious service offered by the Hotel Bisanzio have remained with us since. On this occasion we found the same culture of welcoming and polite service from booking to checkout and everything in-between. We had two wonderful rooms and one even had the balcony and view as per the photo on the the hotels website. The rooms were extremely quite (helpful when getting over jet lag). So quite - that not even the bells of Venice intruded - not that I mind bells. The rooms were also very fresh, clean and relatively spacious. The breakfasts (part of our package) were OK. We had some wonderful restaurant recomendations from the front desk.

“Very Satisfied!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

I was really happy with this hotel! The location is great-- one block away from the water (while you don't get a water view, you don't have all of that noise...) and close to the vaporetto stop. Also, the hotel is just few minutes walk from St. Mark's Square, and surronded by restaurants and shopping.

The front desk staff was great! They were happy to offer assistance when needed. The lobby was neat and well kept. There was a cute, 2-stool bar--the concierge doubles as a bartender and were happy to chat if they were not busy! Breakfast was plentiful-- fruit, yogurt, pastries, lunch meats and hot meats (sausage or bacon) and I think eggs....

I stayed in a quad, so we were in a property located next to the main hotel-- a little bungalow.. very cute and cozy. We had 2 doors so I did feel secure even though I was not "in" the hotel. The beds were better than others I have slept in throughout Italy. Space in the room was ample... bunk beds (hiding) and a sofa were in the main room, and a bedroom housed a queen bed (also a safe!). The bathroom was clean.

I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: a tip for traveling in venice-- pack lightly! no cars (which means no cabs!) so your travel is by va...

“wonderful in every way!”

I stayed here as an anniversary trip for my wife. It was our forth time in Venice and definitely the best hotel yet. The location is truly perfect- so near the waterfront and just 100m from the nearest vaporetto stop. Also less than 5 minutes to St Marks Square. Above everything, the staff are lovely, great English and very hospitable. The room was spacious, very clean, warm and quiet. The tub was deep-perfect for a soak after lots of walking. Breakfast is a simple buffet with fresh espresso (illy-shame not Kimbo!) so really nice start to the day. For a trip/ special occasion you will get great value here and superb welcome- I highly recommend it. If you want tea/coffee in room you must ask-it will be supplied- we were happy with the mini bar!

Room Tip: we were forth floor-nice and quiet and view onto peaceful courtyard.

“Very good Hotel in a very good location”

Just spent 2 nights with my wife and another couple. We had 2 rooms next to each other at the 6th floor, both rooms with balcony as we had requested. Rooms very good size, well decorated, comfortable and clean with nice bathroom. Hotel very well kept throughout with a welcoming reception area, comfortable lounge and bar. Staff very helpful. Breakfast included in price and decent.
My only little negative is the mattress which I found too flat though it didn't bother my wife. Incidentally my friend in the other room commented the same about their mattress.
I don't think I would look anywhere else the next time I visit Venice. The location is perfect.

Room Tip: Rooms at the sixth floor which we stayed in are definitely very good, with a balcony and good light...
