“Not Bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

The hotel is near the private part of the beach and not near to the center of Lido. However the city is very small and you can walk or take a bus.
Breakfast is good (not very good but ok) and you take it in a very beautiful garden.
Staff are mixed some of them are very friendly some not. First day of arrival we face an unfriendly staff and we need to wait for 2 hour to check our reservation problem. There are ants in the room and when I argued they answered this is normal because of the garden !!!

“Hotel with No Soul”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

people found this review helpful

This hotel is very disappointing, and a shame for Best Western chain.
Its an old villa looking nice outside but management has no soul inside.
I came to Venice happy and left with a frown...from this soul-less place.
Why?
I hurt my leg while in this hotel, and had to be sent to emergency hospital in the night. I returned to hotel past midnite--the next day, could not walk to Breakfast room downstairs.

I requested Reception to kindly have someone bring my breakfast from breakfast buffet which is paid with my room charged---since I could not walk--it was not a room service order--but just a humble request for delivering my food from breakfast buffet.

When I checked out--they charged me additional for the breakfast--with additional service charge for delivery to my room--

I asked why--as I had breakfast included in my room charge, and I did not order room service--I would not have mind paying for the delivery of my breakfast which has been paid with my room charge---so why charge more? Besides I only had coffee n bread, cereals and egg; while in the breakfast buffet, there are also fruits and ham, croissant and cakes, and juices, etc which they did not bring me. And more importantly---it was a special request from someone who could not walk--that day! (as I was just in hospital the night before).

The Manager who I thought would have been more sympathetic and kind--
and out of goodwill can just waive the additional charge--- of only 12 euros--because breakfast has been paid with room and due of my medical condition--it was exceptional request---to deliver
but Manager and Reception man were very rude, chauvinistic and added--if they do this service to everyone for free-they would be bankrupt! Then Reception man added another 3 euros for service making the extra charge 15 euros!
Its such a small amount--and I told them I will not get poor by paying it--but it was the principle---humanity, consideration--and double charging.

Obviously--this hotel has no soul--and no skills in public relations.

They did not want to listen to me--even when I said it was not a normal situation--and was just because I was sick and unable to walk down the buffet breakfast table...
They were only after gaining additional 15 euros!

My breakfast was included in my room charge--why should they double charge me?
So I ended up paying additional 15 euros--a small amount----which they gain but losing me and many others who can sympathize that a Management soul is also important in hotel business!

I stayed in this hotel from Oct 26-30, 2011 in Room 205 then 203.

Room Tip: Dont ever go to this hotel!

“Highly Recommended”

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. I was travelling in Italy alone and spent 5 nights here. Please note that it is not on the main island of Venice but very easily accessible, I took a pass for the vaparetto/water bus which was very regular and allowed me to easily travel throughout all the islands.
The reception at the hotel was incredibly friendly and I was recommended places to visit and walks to take which kept me busy during my stay.
The room was very clean, well maintained and nicely furnished, I was even pleasantly surprised to find a private balcony with a view towards the lagoon.
The price was also wonderfully affordable and I will definitely be back.
thank you so much for making my holiday as wonderful as I'd hoped!

“Hit and Miss”

I We stayed at this hotel while on a tour wth Trafalgar. Our room was alright but either the air conditioning didn't work or wasn't turned on. When I complained someone came to the room, fidddled with the thermostat's knobs, said the AC is now working and left. It was no different to before his visit. I understand some hotels don't turn the A.C. on until June 1st. We stayed there at the end of May.
Our room although small, was clean and overlooked the garden. A fellow and his wife with whom we were travelling had a room that previously, in their opinion must have been the attic. It had no window except a sky light and was up 32 stairs and no elevator. These same people also said when they asked for a hand with their luggage and were refused help. Other people on the tour complainde of what they felt was a condesending attitude among the staff. I never experienced it whom ever I spoke with was most helpful.

A great plus for me is the hotel has bicycles free of charge for the use of guests. My wife and I took bikes and went for a very enjoyable bike ride around the Lido. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the water taxis and good restaurants. I would stay there again but I would want to know the AC was on and where my room was going to situated.

“great quiet location and good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

My daughter and I have just stayed for three nights. We had a spacious twin room at the back of the hotel. It was very clean, quiet and the beds comfortable. The reception staff were helpful; particularly the manager. There could have been more choice for breakfast.
The location was ideal for us being a ten minute walk from the ferry. We purchased a 3 day ticket to enable us to visit Venice, Burano and Torchello at leisure.
The Lido is the ideal place to get away from the crowds of Venice and relax. Also the prices are cheaper. We would recommend the hotel and the Lido anytime. When dining in Venice we stayed away from the tourist hot spots where prices are high.
