The Hotel is beautiful and as expected there is a real attention to detail from the minute you walk in - the staff were faultless. It's located in the fashionable part, right by Chanel and LV so all your (window) shopping needs are on on your doopstep.
They offer a free water taxi to the glass making factory where the cheapest thing we saw was €150 for 6 glasses so be wary of this. Other than that a fantastic stay in a beautiful city. Definitely worth spending a little more for that extra treat.

I'd stayed at the Luna a few times in the early 90's and found it lovely. Fantastic location just off the Grand Canal and St Mark's with all the covenience of almost everything on the doorstep. It is an expensive hotel but you get what you pay for, the rack rates are half that of the summer rates. Summer is, in my book, to be avoided and there is nothing quite like Venice in the winter. Everything about the hotel was flawless, from service to breakfast, room service, concierge services. I highly recommend this hotel.

Just home from a delightful weekend in Venice - we much prefer the winter months when things are quieter and cold crisp days are perfect for walking, walking, walking (just cover up when on the Grand Canal).

Being winter, rates were friendlier and we managed to include the buffet breakfast (at Euro 40 a head over three days that alone saved 360 Euros for the three of us!). The breakfast was a great start to the day, sumptuous in the Marco Polo ballroom, and the staff were all charming and brilliant. We had a deluxe room facing an internal courtyard, but that didn't matter at all since we were out and about all day, our friend had a simpler room with a view of the Grand Canal.

Yes it can be expensive, but to be able to step out and almost straight onto St Mark's Square, and be in the middle of it all is priceless. Everything we asked for was arranged perfectly, from pick-up at the airport to recommendations for restaurants and things to do.

We spent the first five days of our honeymoon at the Baglioni and had a fabulous time. We were greeted with cocktails and a small but stunning room overlooking the Grand Canal. The hotel is on the south side of the Grand Canal looking north and it has a lovely little terrace almost at water level, which is a great place to have a sundowner. The service is impeccable and very discreet. After the first night however we realised it was like sleeping above a bus lane .. but the hotel happily moved us to a huge room overlooking the courtyard at the back. The location is fabulous: literally a 30 sec trip across the canal and 5 minutes from all the major tourist attractions .. but even better 5 mins and 30 mins away from the tourist attractions and located in the peaceful Dorsodoro ... we spent hours just wondering around the peaceful streets, stopping off a tiny cafes and bars off the beaten track .. and saw a side of Venice most probably dont bother to see. The hotel itself is supermodern inside .. our bathroom had an entirely glass basin .... and it was difficult to see the edges of it against the gold leaf floor .. but we had fun [and a few broken glasses trying].
