“Dazzling Danieli!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

The Danieli is ideally situated on the Grand Canal, near St. Mark's Square. Yes, it's expensive, but it's worth it! Where else can you step out the front door after handing the oversized tassled key to the desk agent, and enter a water taxi to whisk you around a city? Make time to explore this magnificent hotel. Hear its creeks. See its beauty. Feels its textures and heirlooms. Taste its delicious offerings. While in Venice, permit yourself to simply wander--no map, no guide, nothing----just wonder! It's magnificent! I STRONGLY recommend a water taxi ride to the island of Torcello--a far cry from the more touristy islands of Morano (the glass art) and Borano (the lace art). Torcello is literally sinking, and thus is barely inhabited--a few shops, restaurants, and a church. Visit the church and you can LITERALLY watch this historical monument crumble before your eyes.

Room Tip: Rooms along the small side canal can be a bit noisy with tourists and locals walking by at all hours...

“So worth it!”

I just stayed at this hotel and absolutely loved it. The location is perfect about 100 metres to St Mark's Square and near all the great shops and restaurants. It is right on the water and easy to get to by boat. The hotel has real charm and is in typical Venetian style. The rooms are spacious by European standards, bathrooms are large and the beds are comfortable. The hotel has a really nice lounge and bar area to chill out and have drinks and a great rooftop restaurant. I would definitely stay at this hotel again because of its location, atmosphere and service.

By the way, you must visit this seafood and pasta restaurant, only a couple of blocks from the hotel, it was absolutely divine: 'Corte Sconta' Calle Del Pestrin No. 3886 Ph: [...]

Room Tip: Even the basic rooms were great (however these did not look over the water)

“Don't choose the entry level room, it is old and not worth the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We stayed at the hotel from Dec 26 to Dec 28, in a deluxe double. The room was not worth the money and looked nothing like what you see on their website. However, the Hotel in itself was very charming and beautiful, it is a shame that their deluxe double was so old. I recall one comment here saying that if you want to camp at your grandma's house then go ahead. I had the same feeling while staying at this hotel. I paid to stay in a hotel that has a history, but I didn't expect to stay in a room that is equally old and worn out as the age of the hotel!

“Fantastic”

We stayed in the Danieli over the New Year holiday. Our 13 yr old son was booked to share our room but the hotel provided a mini suite with a separate single room for him and this worked very well for us. The hotel is beautiful, very special. The staff were all attentive and professional.

Room Tip: ask to stay in the original Danieli; there are 3 buildings all linked.

“New years in Venice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

A perfect destination for that grim time - Christmas - New Years for us single ones. So when the opportunity to go to Venice and stay at what I feel is one of the most wonderful "old school" hotels was a dream come true. Room with a view of the Lagoon, hotel service 5 stars! City crowded, but crowded with Italians.

Room Tip: Have a good credit limit on your Amex card!
