Our apartment was very nice. Old and authentic, a good represnetation of Venice with a lovely balcony above the canal below.
Francesco met us near the train station and helped us with our (considerable amount of) luggage. Nice touch and much appreciated.
The apartment was nice and secure and very "old world". It was functional with a washing machine in the kitchen which, after a few weeks travelling, were glad to see. Start-off tea/coffee facilities were provided but no kettle or cork screw...? Also, there were no soap or shampoo in the bathroom which we had been accustomed to finding (and needing). Free Wi-Fi available which is always a big plus on our travels.
The location is a bit off the beaten track (which may be good or bad depending on your outlook) but not too far to be a problem. There are also two cafes on Piazza San Giacomo which were great ( see separate reviews).
In summary, an enjoyable stay and a place we would recommend. However, Venice, as a whole, we found to be overrated and exploitative. Interesting but overrated. Must mention Murano - a place full of pretentious, rude, overdressed salesmen and wholly forgetful. Wished we had stayed in Florence for longer....
