“Great Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights at the Majestic Toscanelli the 3rd week in September. The hotel in located in the heart of the old town which is just wonderful to explore. The hotel was very nicely decorated and our junior suite was large and comfortable. We had no problems with the internet access. My wife is disabled, so we noted that the entrance has several steps, but once inside there is an elevator and it is easy to get around. The breakfast room is up a flight of stairs. The first day the ever-helpful staff took us on the staff elevator, but after that we had breakfast brought to the room. We enjoyed the bar which is very cozy and decorated with unique finds from all over the world. Everyone there was very helpful and accommodating, in particular Martina who came up with 5 nights of great restaurant recommendations. The small street on which the hotel is located is one of the major student hangouts in this university town, and the crowds spill out from the bars into the roadway. Though we did not participate this was a lot of fun. Our room overlooked the street but because we ran the AC and closed the windows, we were not bothered by noise. We highly recommend this hotel.

“Best choice in Padua! God bless the staff!!!”

I've never written one of these reviews before but I am eternally grateful for the helpful staff.
On my flight over to Italy I had a crown fall out, horror. The staff went out of their way to hook me up with a nearby dentist (who did the job for free). I can't thank them enough!

The hotel was good. I'm an American and have been to Europe several times. Reasonable size rooms. Better than average AC (for Europe). I thought it was quiet (its in an area with effectively no car traffic). Clean and up to date. VERY GOOD location.

“Two star with a four star name and price”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

Padua is an ancient city. At some point in its long history, hotel Toscanelli may have been well described as "majestic" and have deserved 4 stars. But that must have been a long time ago.

Now, their rooms here are worse than many 2 star hotels. The beds are wiry and far too small. The hot water does not work consistently and neither does the air conditioning.
The carpet and old furniture fill the room with a consistent musty smell.

Just about the only thing that was four star about this hotel, in fact, was the price. But in our case it seems that the hotel staff believe that that price was not high enough. A day after we left they decided to charge our credit card an additional 120 euros, supposedly because we had pushed the bed against the wall and moved two of the drawers out of reach of our 1 year old. So now we have credit card dispute as a souvenir from Padua.

Make the most of your vist to this lovely city. Don't stay in hotel toscanelli.

With reference to your comment, it is our opinion that after your departure the room looked like something else than “child-safe”.
For example, the telephone was not simply disconnected, but cable and phone were disassembled and left on the floor in two different sides of the room; the bed itself was displaced on the other wall; empty bottles, paper and assorted materials everywhere. We had to reassemble everything and order a new key and key holder since we couldn’t find it in the room when you told us to look in.
Regarding not having hot water or cool air conditioning, you never reported such a problem neither anybody before or after you. Eventually you should have let us know the problem and we could have fixed it.

“Very good hotel except for Internet service”

This hotel is a very quiet, conveniently located in the center of Padova. The breakfast buffet is very good, extensive choices including some hot food. A/C worked well which was a relief in July. The bed was a little hard, but the biggest problem is the WiFi internet. it only works in the lobby and even then it's very slow and uneven. No wired access is available. So if using the Internet is very important to you, you might want to look elsewhere.

“Excellent location, helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2011

This hotel was the only "luxury" property I could find in the center of Padua. The location was, indeed, excellent. The staff was very helpful. The rooms are sufficient but not luxurious. The bathrooms are small but functional (shower stall with a curtain that pulls around it). WiFi is included.
