A Mark Warner chalethotel. Good staff and food. Rooms o.k. The sat/cable tv doesn't have any english-speaking channels ... Mark Warner won't pay for the subscriptions.
Paper thin bedroom walls; I was lucky that as a one-off, the hotel was mostly occupied by of one like-minded group all week. Some unlucky fellow skiers were woken by the same selfish three people returning at 3 a.m., twice. Most weeks would be noisier, as mixed guests of varying social habits.
Resort has non-existent nightlife. Relaxed, classy Bar Roma for 3 p.m. onwards, and another up the street apparenty. Very posh shops. Traffic free main street. Clean resort.
Resort village itself dead in the week. Locals said been like this for a few years. Wealthy Italians arrive on Sat & Sun.
Good ski-ing. Only lift queues on sunny weekends. Holds snow well and much better than Chamonix the other side of Mont Blanc. Don't bother with daytrips on crowded slow buses to Pila or La Thuile/La Rosiere ... why waste huge chunks of day on a bus, for average skiing elsewhere?
