Had a 5-day stay in Cervinia, April 2011. I didn't fancy standard hotel food, so, on the first night I walked around town looking for the busiest restaurant and Grivola was the clear winner. After the first evening, I was hooked and ate there every night. The service was very friendly and polite. The staff were very professional but would always stop for a chat. The food was brilliant. After a day's skiing, you need some hearty grub and Grivola did not disappoint. Over the five days, I ate patsa, pizza, steak and lamb chops (twice), always with an excellent side-salad. The meat dishes were served with buttery baked potatoes and grilled courgette and aubergine. The ambience was more restaurant than pub, but one always felt very much at home. The owner has numerous of, i believe, his own beautiful original paintings of dreamy mountain scenes adorning the walls. I am writing this review almost a year after my visit having seen some negative reviews from several years ago. This is not posh michelin-star food but it's as good as Italy and the Alps could possibly offer as a hearty post-ski dinner experience. I can't wait to come back.
