We stayed at the Sporting for a week's skiing and found it to be a perfectly good, although basic hotel. The rooms are compact - there's just enough room to walk round the bed, but not much more. The bathroom was small, with shower, WC, sink & bidet, but had everything you really need. Previous reviewers have mentioned problems with noise, but we had no such problems - even the church clock opposite stops chiming after 10pm and doesn't start again until 8am. Breakfast was pretty good for Italy: fresh croissants, rolls, juice and coffee. There is no guests' lounge in the hotel, which is a bit of disadvantage, but there is a bar/cafe on the ground floor.
The location was great. The village is mostly pedestrianised, so coaches have to drop you off at the car park at the centre. The Sporting is almost directly opposite, so no long walks with cases. The lifts are about 3 mins away, unless you want to go up on the gondala, which is a up the hill. All the restaurants, bars, etc are a short walk from the hotel.
Finally, the owners were helpful and friendly, although their english is not great. We were particularly impressed when, on the day we left, at 6:45 in the morning, the owners mother (I think that's who she was) was waiting for us in the bar downstairs in her dressing gown ready to serve us some coffee before we left.
So, in conclusion - the Sporting is great if all you need is a place to sleep, but if you want all the comforts of a large hotel, you should look elsewhere.
