“Great base for skiing holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2011

We (2 adults 1 child) stayed at the Europa w/c 13 February 2011. Location wise its perfect, at the top of the main street in Cervinia and a 2/3 minute walk to the ski school meeting place and chair lifts. If you want to use the cable car to Plan Mason the hotel runs a courtesy mini bus.
The Hotel is clean and the staff were extremely obliging and friendly. Food was of a very high standard with good choices and nice children's menu too - equally if your child was having a fussy night you could eat 'off menu' eg my son frequently just ordered pasta with a tomato sauce that wasn't on the menu!
There were some really nice touches eg delicious and generous amounts of canapies with pre dinner drinks , heated boot warmers(never experienced that before but lovely to put warm boots on in the morning! )
Pool was ok on the small side and a little cooler than I would like - I personally think it a bit off to charge each guest 6 euros to use the jacuzzi and you only get 15 minutes in it and especialy off to charge for an 8 year old who jumped in and out after about 5 minutes.
Our room was on the small side for 3 people but adequate- all the superior rooms had gone by the time we had booked so not sure if they are bigger. We did have a nice bathroom though and although not a full size bath we also had an overhead shower with screen door-I mention that as some guests complained they only had a hand held shower with no curtain or screen so water went everywhere.
The room and in fact the hotel just felt a little dated eg old fashioned tv instead of a modern flatscreen, very old fashioned radio -which meant the hotel felt to us a bit more staid than we like. Guest were mixed eg some young couples but mainly the hotel did cater for an older quite well heeled crowd. I was surprised at how few children were at the hotel given there were good faciliites for them eg the pool a games room and being Italy all the staff were very child friendly
I would certainly go back there if I was returning to Cervinia but I might take my own pillow as that is my biggest complaint - they were rock hard !

“Hotel good, resort good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2011

We stayed at the Europa in Feb 2011 for a week's skiing via Inghams. We opted for a superior room in an attempt to get a south facing balcony on which we could while away an afternoon or two as the sun set. We were unsuccessful in that I don't think the hotel has balconies large enough for a table and a couple of chairs, nor do you get much of a south facing view. So, if sitting out in the dying sun watching the last of the skiers coming down is your thing – forget it at the Europa. Due to the layout of the resort I think you'd have to go to one of the on-piste hotels to get this.
I'm also not exactly sure what made our room “superior” - I understand that some ”standard” rooms did not have a shower attachment to the wall in the bath, ours did, so maybe that was it. I'd suggest you give the hotel a call to check your room has a stand-up shower facility before booking if this is important to you.
We had half board and all meals were of exceptional quality. The only slight downside was an additional charge for some breakfast items (e.g. soft-boiled egg), but there was a reasonable choice of non-chargeable goodies.
All dining arrangements and public areas were welcoming, well laid out, roomy and clean. All heated well enough, although you couldn't adjust the temperature in our room.
A good selection of wines, beers, etc. were available and sold at reasonable prices (for a 4* ski resort hotel).
What stood this hotel apart in our experience, is that all of the staff were extremely helpful, cheerful and willing to please. Those who needed to, spoke enough English to provide the best of service.
The Europa is very convenient for the chair lift – about a 200mtr, level walk from boot room. The hotel mini-bus will take you down to the bubble on request. It's also very convenient for the compact town which is full of various bars and eateries.
We'll go back.

“Excellent place to stay”

This hotel provided a great base for a weeks skiing. The hotel is warm and very comfortable. The staff are attentive, polite and very efficient as well as being friendly and making you feel at home. The food ranks among the best I've come across in any hotel. A broad choice at breakfast time includes eggs, cheese, cooked meats, as well as breads, pastries, and cereals.
The dinner is a four corse affair, with an antipasti buffet, choice of four starters, choice of four main couses, and a desert buffet too, if you can manage to eat it ! They also have an extensive wine list, and I can recommend the local Aosta wines, which are at the cheaper end of the price range.
The standard rooms are comfortable, the only gripe being the lack of a shower curtain in the bathroom, but after a day skiing, a relaxing hot bath is often welcome anyway, so don't let that put you off!
The ski room is in the basement, and has heated lockers shared one between two rooms in our case.
The hotel is only about 100 metres from the Cretaz lifts, and sits at the top of the pedestrianised main street, so it's handy for all the towns bars and restaurants.
Strangely, the pool and spa facilities were only open from 5 till 8 pm daily, which I feel the management need to extend, but our tour rep told us that the owners wife had dug in her heels on that one.........very odd!
Overall though, an excellent place to stay. Highly recommended.

“Great location, fantastic staff, good food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2010

Agree with other positive reviews! Perhaps a bit pricey, but this is Cervinia!

- Great location - two chairlifts within a easy 2 minute's walk take you high into the leftmost part of the system where there's already great skiing, and the central part of the system (Plan Maison) is easily reached. And the more quiet end of "Main street" of Cervinia begins/ends at the hotel.
- Fantastic staff at reception, at least english/french/russian speaking, friendly, helpful... top notch!
- Great food at the restaurant, wide choice of different main courses, starters and side dishes with fast & friendly service. Same goes for breakfast - a decent choice, especially for italian hotels that often have breakfasts that could be better.

Some MINOR downpoints, most of wich could be easily adjusted...:
1. Overall design a bit like "1976"... Lots of orange, brown and green... But all fresh & clean.
2. Bathtub without curtain and just a handheld shower?!? Not OK after a day of skiing! I need both hands to shampoo & soap! And we don't want water all over the floor!
3. Sauna and whirlpool could have been included. It's nice to sit 10 minutes in the sauna after an intensive day in the slopes, but at 10 euros per person per day a family can just forget it. Just frustrating.
4. Rooms are not very "roomy" but adequate. Great views from all rooms. Small TV sets.
5. WiFi high speed internet is free but does not reach the rooms. You bring your laptop to the lounge area.

But the positive points are overwhelming, and all & all Hotel Europa is a very nice experience. We may come back!

“great family run hotel with ideal location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2009

We stayed in Europa hotel at the end of March. We were a group of 20!! including 7 kids. It was not the first time in Cervinia but the first time in this hotel. Location is ideal. Very close to the 6-seater lift but if you want to use the cabin lift there is a free transfer in the morning. When you go down in the evening - no problem, the slope is very easy even for kids.
The family staff is very friendly. They really tried to do everything for our big group during the booking process because it was difficult to meet all our needs. But they managed to do it. Thanks to all of them.
The rooms are not big but clean and cosy with a lot of TV channels. Food -- good quality, enough quantity. There are various dishes for extra payment for breakfast and for dinner. But we never ordered them because there was enough to eat among the inclusive dishes. They made an excellent Tiramisu cake for our birthday party. May be this hotel is not for those who want to find a big SPA and a "Michelin star" restaurant.
But never miss a couple of hours at the wonderful sunbathing terrace - the best place in the hotel to my opinion.
What else? Swimming pool - not big but good for kids. Many video games, a lot of cosy sofas in TV room and internet corner.
It deserves to come back.
