“Excellent place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 May 2010

This hotel provided a great base for a weeks skiing. The hotel is warm and very comfortable. The staff are attentive, polite and very efficient as well as being friendly and making you feel at home. The food ranks among the best I've come across in any hotel. A broad choice at breakfast time includes eggs, cheese, cooked meats, as well as breads, pastries, and cereals.
The dinner is a four corse affair, with an antipasti buffet, choice of four starters, choice of four main couses, and a desert buffet too, if you can manage to eat it ! They also have an extensive wine list, and I can recommend the local Aosta wines, which are at the cheaper end of the price range.
The standard rooms are comfortable, the only gripe being the lack of a shower curtain in the bathroom, but after a day skiing, a relaxing hot bath is often welcome anyway, so don't let that put you off!
The ski room is in the basement, and has heated lockers shared one between two rooms in our case.
The hotel is only about 100 metres from the Cretaz lifts, and sits at the top of the pedestrianised main street, so it's handy for all the towns bars and restaurants.
Strangely, the pool and spa facilities were only open from 5 till 8 pm daily, which I feel the management need to extend, but our tour rep told us that the owners wife had dug in her heels on that one.........very odd!
Overall though, an excellent place to stay. Highly recommended.

“Great location, fantastic staff, good food.”

Agree with other positive reviews! Perhaps a bit pricey, but this is Cervinia!

- Great location - two chairlifts within a easy 2 minute's walk take you high into the leftmost part of the system where there's already great skiing, and the central part of the system (Plan Maison) is easily reached. And the more quiet end of "Main street" of Cervinia begins/ends at the hotel.
- Fantastic staff at reception, at least english/french/russian speaking, friendly, helpful... top notch!
- Great food at the restaurant, wide choice of different main courses, starters and side dishes with fast & friendly service. Same goes for breakfast - a decent choice, especially for italian hotels that often have breakfasts that could be better.

Some MINOR downpoints, most of wich could be easily adjusted...:
1. Overall design a bit like "1976"... Lots of orange, brown and green... But all fresh & clean.
2. Bathtub without curtain and just a handheld shower?!? Not OK after a day of skiing! I need both hands to shampoo & soap! And we don't want water all over the floor!
3. Sauna and whirlpool could have been included. It's nice to sit 10 minutes in the sauna after an intensive day in the slopes, but at 10 euros per person per day a family can just forget it. Just frustrating.
4. Rooms are not very "roomy" but adequate. Great views from all rooms. Small TV sets.
5. WiFi high speed internet is free but does not reach the rooms. You bring your laptop to the lounge area.

But the positive points are overwhelming, and all & all Hotel Europa is a very nice experience. We may come back!

“great family run hotel with ideal location”

We stayed in Europa hotel at the end of March. We were a group of 20!! including 7 kids. It was not the first time in Cervinia but the first time in this hotel. Location is ideal. Very close to the 6-seater lift but if you want to use the cabin lift there is a free transfer in the morning. When you go down in the evening - no problem, the slope is very easy even for kids.
The family staff is very friendly. They really tried to do everything for our big group during the booking process because it was difficult to meet all our needs. But they managed to do it. Thanks to all of them.
The rooms are not big but clean and cosy with a lot of TV channels. Food -- good quality, enough quantity. There are various dishes for extra payment for breakfast and for dinner. But we never ordered them because there was enough to eat among the inclusive dishes. They made an excellent Tiramisu cake for our birthday party. May be this hotel is not for those who want to find a big SPA and a "Michelin star" restaurant.
But never miss a couple of hours at the wonderful sunbathing terrace - the best place in the hotel to my opinion.
What else? Swimming pool - not big but good for kids. Many video games, a lot of cosy sofas in TV room and internet corner.
It deserves to come back.

“Excellent spot for skiing”

I have visited Cervinia before for skiing and stayed at the Excelsior Planet. The Europa is a better hotel and is somewhat cheaper.

The desk staff are extremely friendly, competent and helpful. The hotel provides a boot and ski room, where you store your stuff -- with boot heaters!!! Nothing nicer than stepping into warm dry ski boots in the morning. The rooms are not large, but are adequate and are comfortable. The views are outstanding with the village to one side and the Matterhorn (Cervino) to the other. Breakfast is good and very typical with cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, bread and rolls, cold cuts and excellent coffee. Dinners are huge and excellent, which you need after a day on the slopes. Imaginative antipasto, two main courses and dessert -- plenty of choices, fresh ingredients and a good salad bar.

Best of all is the location which is about 100 yards from the bottom of the ski lifts. Cervinia/Zermatt is a great place for intermediate skiers, especially if you like unmatched scenery and good restaurants for lunch. We skied over 125 miles with 97,000 feet of vertical during our 6 days.

“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2009

We stayed in 2 twin rooms at the Europa which was not ideal with 2 young kids aged 7 & 9 but was all they could offer us as they have very few family rooms - however this did not detract from the holiday as the rooms were great and we felt very secure leaving them for the odd night when we were along he corridor in the bar / restaurant. Food was excellent if a little over elaborate at times & the bar was friendly and welcoming. Good location for the 6 man lift although a bit further to the cable car - try to book a ski school that meets nearby rather than at Plateau Rosa - not so much of a rush in the morning !
Friendly helpful staff and quiet location. Good games room for the kids.
