“Decent, welcoming, family-run hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2011

The management and staff were friendly, hard-working and professional. The restaurant manager was charm personified and all employees seemed to have at least basic English.
The room was a decent sized double, with a nice bathroom en-suite. It was at the front of the hotel with a shared terrace, overlooking the main street into town. Still very quiet and comfortable, although smelling of stale cigarette smoke.
The hotel was a short walk from the town centre, nursery slope and the Cretaz lift and a 10-15 minute uphill hike to the main cable-car/telecabine station, although thanks to the free morning taxi service meant this was not a problem. The town itself has a good selection of bars, cafes, restaurants and shops. The boot room facilities were good and there is a small gym, spa and massage facility.
The best things about the hotel were the staff, the bar and lounge - incredibly cosy and still stylish, without being overwhelming.
The food was of mixed quality, but there was a good choice of dishes and always a course or two in every meal which was delicious - no-one went hungry.

“Friendly and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2011

We stayed half-board at the Edelweiss in January 2011. Rooms are clean and have everything you need. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. As a veggie, the food was a bit limited until I realised I could subsistute the pasta option for the omelette they kept trying to feed me! My meat-eating other half was more than impressed with the menu. Sauna and steam room are welcome after a cold day on the slopes.
The only drawback is that the hotel is a little way from the ski lifts. You can pay 3 euros to get the hotel bus to pick you up at the end of the day (there's a free shuttle in the morning), or you can leave your skis and poles in a locker at Plan Maison (also 3 euros), and then the walk back is not a problem.
Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

“Its great if you want a good three star, but it is three star!! don't expect the Ritz!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2011

too may times you read reviews of hotels where the comparison of service and quality is with regular visits to hotels of higher standards. when booking this hotel for a weeks ski with my wife we had both eyes open, and expected simple accommodation with some issues with its facilities etc, the brochures state the place has a gym, some say a fitness centre, it is not true, its is also not as good as the hotels own photo, there is now a jacuzzi (£5 a go) where the tired old treadmill and bike once stood, no now you have a box room with no windows and the remnants of some old kit a bull worker. the hotel rooms are a bit cold and the beds a bit uncomfortable but again its s simple three star hotel at the budget end of a ski break to a great area. now the positives and there is plenty. the food is great and the chef will accommodate you very well. the bar is very friendly and the owners so grateful of the custom. the owner does a private transfer to the ski lift each morning and breakfast is simple but hearty and plentiful with fresh juices and eggs etc. top tip is the hotel tv's are in italian but if you go into ski set up you can reset it for original which gives you mostly english programs, I checked with them and this is cool.
I would say this hotel represents good value and great service with some traditional italian food, just ask for some extra pillows and the heating to be turned on in your room, you will like it im sure.

“The friendliest hotel I've ever stayed in”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2011

Every seasoned traveller knows that it is the people you meet that make a truly great holiday experience. The family who run this hotel and the staff that work there made this a wonderful week for us. By the end of the holiday they felt like our family and we were really sorry to say goodbye.
This is not the smartest hotel in the world but it is very comfortable and homely. The food is both very good and plentiful. The Edelweiss is exceptional value for money and I would definitely recommend it.

“A nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2010

We stayed at Edelweiss for a week in February and were really pleased with the place. its a small familyrun hotel, right outside center of Cervinia. The staff are in good mood and helpful.

Our purpose with our vacation was skiing, and the hotel was perfect for that; you buy skipasses in the reception, skibus every morning to the funiva when it suits you, great room for ski-storage with boot-heater and the hotel is located a short walk from the pistes/center when you get back in the afternoon.

The rooms are normal italian style, some might be a bit noisy due the traffic and machines clearing the snow in the morning (but thats a good sign, isn't it?). Bathroom are normal sized and clean, but the hot water could have been warmer. Small tv with mostly Italian channels.

The hotel still got a good restaurant with good food and wine. Vegetarian choice every day. If you choose halfboard, you get a 4 course menu to choose different dishes from. The breakfast is ok, there are two different meats to choose from, cheese, jam and honey. Cereal and youghurt are also provided.

The hotel got a small gym, steam-bath and sauna (the sauna was out of order). Nice bar and fireplace lounge. Slow internet computer in the lobby, WIFI in your room if you pay. We didnt try it out. Free parking 50 meters from the hotel. Shops and restaurants 50 - 200 meters from the hotel.

In Cervinia there are several places to eat and drink. Dragon Pub are for some reason the most popular after-ski place, luckily there are several places to get a drink. The pistes are great, and make sure you get a trip over to the Zermatt side. That gives you more choice if the weather changes on one side, but keep in mind that you have to get back over the border before the lifts closes!
