“Great Hotel run by Great People”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Stayed here for a week mid January 2012. The hotel is slightly above average for a three star rating (let's say 3.75 stars) and significantly above average for a ski resort hotel.

The rooms are clean, comfortable, a good size, well equipped with Sky TV and free wi-fi, have good ensuite bathrooms (which even includes a bidet - great for tired feet apparently!!!) are warm and even have a small safe located in the wardrobe.

The staff are amazingly friendly and go out of their way to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable.

The hotel has a heated boot room and ski locker in the basement, and even boasts a sauna and jacuzzi - not that we used these.

The bar is well equipped (we did use this! A lot!!) and has a large lounge area complete with roaring fire and plenty of board games.

The real star of the hotel, however, is its restaurant. Not Michelin star, but exceptionally good at delivering home-cooked, tasty food in MASSIVE quantities. Typical dinner would comprise a cured meat and cheese starter, a first main course of spaghetti carbonara, a second main course of duck breast and veg, a cheese course and, finally, a dessert. All accompanied by a pretty decent wine list. TOP TIP - stick to the local Aosta wines - superb quality at amazingly cheap prices.

The location is good - far enough (5 minutes slow walk) from the bustle of the resort main strip but close enough to comfortably walk back to from the slopes - in your ski boots with your ski's on your shoulder - you know the drill. Best news is, in the mornings, the hotel's private shuttle bus will drive you to either of the two main ski lift stations. Perfect!!

All in all, highly recommended. Will definately return, with the rest of the family next time. Hotel is well equipped to keep the kids happy also.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have a great view of the Matterhorn/Cervino Mountain but can suffer from road noi...

“Great for veggies”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

I stayed here over New Year with my daughter and her boyfriend. 2 of us are veggies. On arrival we checked the tour company had informed them of our dietary requirement and were told 'Yes' but only the day before! We stayed Half Board. Our food was excellent and on New Years' Eve we had a 5 course feast. We veggies had our own menu printed, too, and it was a great evening. I had a comfy single room and the double was also good. A good sized lounge with log fire. The hotel runs a shuttle bus to the gondola and will collect there if you phone, after a days skiing. The staff were very friendly and efficient. I will stay there again as Cervinia is definitely very good for intermediates and in a stunning location.

“Good value ski location”

We have just returned from a weeks skiing holiday at the Edelweiss. We think it is a nice clean and friendly hotel with good typical Italian food served in the evening by friendly waiters. Breakfast is a buffet affair which is slightly limited in variation but more than adequate.

Our rooms were nice and clean and well heated, we stayed at the front of the hotel which was nice and quiet until about 6am every morning when the local council decided it would be good to scrape and clear all of the snow from the roads as a wake up call. But obviously not the hotels fault.

The ski/boot room was excellent with nice heated boot racks available, dry boots every morning is a good start to the day, along with a free shuttle bus available to the lifts every day. We always walked back from the slopes in the evening which takes about 5-10 minutes easy walking down hill in ski boots. Or you could phone the hotel for a lift if required.

The bar/lounge area was very comfortable with a nice log fire burning every night, along with a nice friendly bunch of guests to have a chat with.

We purchased the area pass for the week which by all accounts can be a mistake dependant on the weather. We couldn't ski out of the local pass area for 2 days due to high winds so it might be worth checking the price difference before you purchase.

All in we think the Edelweiss is a good value, clean hotel, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel especially if your on a budget, you won't be disappointed.

“Very Welcoming with Outstanding Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

We chose this hotel as located in the centre of Cervinia within the reach to the lifts. We expected to spend little time at the hotel and dedicate the stay to skiing exclusively, from sunrise till sunset. Three star reasonably priced hotel with breakfast/dinner included in the price was all we needed. It was a four day girlie stay soon after the New Year. We stayed at the family suite consisting two double rooms and a bathroom. It offered clean rooms with self regulated heating. The food was nice with choice of two dishes every night. Due to exceptionally bad weather, the whole resort was closed and we were unable to ski. We got stranded at the hotel for the most of the trip.

This hotel delivered above our expectations.

What was potentially a disastrous weekend, turned into an enjoyable, fun packed stay at the hotel. Staff was very welcoming and accommodating to all our requests and needs. The area around the bar had lovely atmosphere. Staff very attentive and customer oriented. Waitressing team excellent.

Highly recommended. I will certainly be returning customer. I will just choose March/April for skiing rather than January. Too cold and too windy.

“Simple and convenient”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

Double room. Young couple. The hotel is typical mountain hotel, suited for skiers and hikers. There's a sauna and spa area with extra massage services. The room was very simple with basic furniture, it was somewhat cold (in July there was 12°C rainy outside). Personnel was kind and helpful. Breakfast not in line with mountain standard (coffee tea and chocolate were provided by an automatic machine).
It's not located in the pedestrian old town, so the view on the main entrance road of the village is not so charming.

Room Tip: Rooms with Cervino mountain view are also facing the main traffic road. So they could result a littl...
