“Not too bad, but in desperate need of renovation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2011

Overall, this hotel provides reasonable levels of comforts. Room size is ok, the bathrooms have all the basic features you would expect, including free top end toiletries. Cleaness is also acceptable. Breakfast a bit lousy but not too bad. Location is ideal, straight in the middle of the center, a few steps from the beautiful Place Chanoux and the lovely pedestrian area. Service is friendly.
All together, it still remains one of the best accommodation that can be found in Aosta, but be prepared for nothing special, really worn out rooms and bathroom, and a general atmoshephere of "we have seen better days here". The management should really invest as soon as possible in refurbishment works, but they probably know that there are few competitors in Aosta and this allows them to keep on as it is.
Prices are not cheap: we paid Euro 160 for a double room with breakfast, which considering the comments above is not a little price. However, we found this rate at the very last minute on the internet and this was literally the one and only double room bookable in Aosta for that night. By booking in advance and/or contacting the hotel directly, hopefully you will able to get a better deal.

“Great Location & Amazing Staff ....”

but the hotel is in desperate need of a major makeover.

If you are looking for a central hotel, with the best location in Aoste, this is the one for you. As long as you are willing to overlook the condition of the rooms.

Although our room was clean, it had had better days. There was an air conditioner, but it didn't work. There was a phone base on the wall, but no phone. The furniture was quite old and showed wear & tear. The carpets were also in need of replacing. This could be the grandest hotel if only some renovation would be done.

The good points.....

The staff were unbelievably helpful. They went out of their way to help us with directions & car rental.

The breakfast was lovely.

The location was tops.

“Hotel is dated and overpriced, but in a good location.”

Aosta is an expensive city and a well-priced hotel is hard to find. We stayed at Hotel Europe for one night for 120euro. The hotel is in a good location, but is very dated. For 120 a night I expect free internet, but they charged for internet service. The bedroom was clean, but did not have a/c. Breakfast was adequate. I think the entire hotel needs to be renovated. I would find someplace else to stay if I return.

“A shame for the Alps hostelry in 2010”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

We had to stay here one night because a lot of other places were fully booked and we arrived late in the evening in Aosta. We paid 100€ for a room that look to have not changed a bit since 1960. We had first to ask another room because it smell cigarettes, even it is forbidden to smoke since a few years.. The breakfast room looks also completely outdated.

Keep away !

“Save Your Money !”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 April 2010

This hotel would be pushing it for 3 stars never mind 4 !. Rooms are dated and have not been re-decorated since the 1970's. The heating in the rooms is hysterically bad with damaged thermostats with worn out numbers (and that is when the heating is working). There is no WIFI in the bedrooms which makes things frustrating when the only WIFI spot is downstairs literally at the entrance and you have to work & speak to clients with shouting people and background music. The internet is not free either which is a joke considering the inconvenience and limitations of the service. The TV is all in Italian with no SKY News or much options for non Italian Tourists. The breakfast is boring consisting of every day : Ham, cheese, stale bread, yogurts, various spreads, and crappy cereals. This can get frustratingly repetitive if you're staying for a week or more. Why they don't serve warm breakfast in the middle of the Alps is beyond me. There is no access for disabled people, and hotel staff will hapilly watch a mother struggling to carry her child in the push chair up the stairs rather than assist. Definitely not worth the price and no chance in Hell 4 stars. Sorry guys its 2010 get with the times. Oh, how could I forget there is a woman that stays there regularly and leaves her Jack Russel in the room barking its head off all night untill she returns from working in the theater. Nice
