“Old world hospitality in a spectacular setting”

If you are looking for a "high end" or "glitzy' hotel, this is not a good choice. However, if you are looking for comfort, cleanliness, spectacular views and mountain air, well-prepared meals, excellent wines and grappas, and peace and quiet, there is no better place on earth to stay for a few days! The staff was very helpful and pleasant in every way. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a much better room. The absence of televisions and phones in the rooms is wonderful! The new pool/hot tub and spa area are lovely, although we only used them once. The real charm of this hotel is that it is a small, family-run establishment with personalized service: a rare thing nowadays.

“Not very welcoming”

This hotel was to be our 'ah ha' place for our recent trip but I was disappointed. The venue is quiet and peaceful, the rooms were nicely appointed and sized, the view was wonderful. However, I agree with one of the reviewers that I found the afternoon/evening reception (I think manager) to be less than friendly. They had one english menu which my husband and I shared and the morning 'tips for the day' page was in german and even tho' we stayed 4 days, no attempt was made to accommodate our language isolation. We've traveled extensively and never have I felt less welcome. We found their food to be just OK - a little too salty to our taste.

“A Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2010

What a nice surprise!
I was a little nervous driving up the twisty- winding road about the location and facilities, though as it turns out there was no need! The room was lovely! Big, with a fantastic view of the dolomites! The hotel restaurant was fantastic! And very accommodating--though there was no vegetarian food listed on the dinner menu, I asked and was served up some of the best food on the trip! Everything was fresh and delicious!

“Excellent view, excellent restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2009

The hotel is not close to Bozen, but rather far up on the mountains. It can be reached by a funiculaire or by driving up the road (which is fun with a nice sports-car). The view from above across the valley is beautiful.
Owing to the location we decided not to go down to Bozen for having dinner. The hotel has a restaurant and they serve excellent food and wines, however this is rather expensive. When booking half-board you get the same service but at a lower price.
There is a nice pool and jacuzzi outside, as well as a sauna inside. On a warm summer day it is very relaxing to enjoy these facilities outside.
In our case, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

“Beautiful location, but unfriendly, lurking manager”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2009

Coming to this hotel was like a breath of fresh air--we took the funiculaire to the top among breathtaking and pristine alpine views. We enjoyed some lovely hiking, as well as the nice hotel facilities. We would have given this hotel five stars had we not had such a negative experience with the hotel manager. When we asked to check out 15 minutes early, he told us this was impossible, so we sat and waited for him while he milled about supervising the other staff. When we finally did check out, he virtually ran us out of the hotel when we asked him about one of the charges on the bill (which we could not understand because it was all in German). Surprising, considering our bill was nearly 600EU--you would think you could get a little common courtesy and hospitality for that amount.

We had a great stay and enjoyed the restaurant, but the manager's rudeness virtually ruined our experience at this otherwise lovely hotel. I would cautiously recommend it.
