“A good place to stop for a comfortable fleeting visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We booked due to it being close to the train station and got a good last minute deal on Wotif.com
It is a pleasing contrast inside to the typically grotty outside area (being near a train station in a continental city is always a recipe for accumulating less salubrious types)
As far as areas around train stations go this one didn't seem too bad, saw a few dodgy people and if there were prostitutes outside as people say, they were a heck of a lot better looking than we get here in Scotland!!!

Inside the hotel is very sleek, clean and modern. It's not a big hotel but has all the creature comforts you need for a nice night in but is also a short walk to the Palazzas where you'll find nice Apertivo Cafe bars and Gelato bars, yum :)

The staff were very helpful and had excellent English.
We arrived in a sorry state, backpacks on and tired from a long day travelling from the Alps during the usual Italian transport strikes yet despite our initial rough appearance the staff were still pleasant to us. And this of course continued once we'd been up stairs and tidied our selves up a bit!

The room was big and was well stocked with technology and security features and the bathroom was very big and clean.

My only gripe was poor water pressure in the shower. A disappointment because after a long day there's nothing better than a blasting hot hotel shower.

Room Tip: 206 could be good, it's a corner room and gets both a street-front balcony but also a rooftop te...

“Super situation for fabulous ornate stazione Porta Nuova”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

We knew we would arrive in the evening by train so wanted simple walk in winter. The station area is never the best but in Torino its ok - v easy covered walkway leads to the glam arcades of Torino.
Bathroom fabulous, aircon adjustable , towel Warmer want one , staff kind wifi an unexpected delight with a pword each. Best of all our large ) double bed is in a clean modern room (some might say too modern) with balcony overlooking side street - it's quiet. . Always feel Accor raise the rates on every visit. We were booking with an Irish friend so I checked rates about 10 times and ended up paying 30% more. Cest la vie. Very happy.

“worth for location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

Mercure Crystal Palace Hotel has very convinient location, just couple of meters from the central train station. The room looked pretty clean. Its price is definetly worthed, even though i had booked it just couple ofdays ago. One major problem I had was that the original room i booked did not get wi-fi reception. I had to change to room to receive wi-fi. And the second room was inferior to the original one. I recommend them to fix the wi-fi problem. Otherwise i recomend the hote for business travelers.

“Very hard to rate this hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

We don't know whether to give a 4 or 3 star rating for this hotel. Room quality, service and breakfast restaurant were all very good. Location near the train station is both convenient and interesting in the Italian sense! Although there is a police station just opposite, there is a red light light district also in the neighbourhood. The single worst thing about the hotel (and it is very bad) is the shower. There is almost no lip to prevent water from running through the bathroom. To make matters worse, the shower doors are almost completely ineffective at doing what shower doors are supposed to do. We ended up buying sponges to mop up the floor after each shower. If you don't mind this it's a 4 star hotel! The hotel is newly renovated and with this single but important exception is really very good. Breakfast restaurant is excellent.

Room Tip: Check the shower first!
