We selected this hotel from several options offered through a travel agency. Just looked interesting. Then we read some rather unflattering reviews. Stayed with our choice because how bad could it be for a few nights?
Very glad we did. We did not have one of the special rooms but what we did have was very nice. Interesting decor (I think each room is different with an eclectic, amusing approach to furnishings - but they all functioned!). Adequate size, lots of storage, good lighting, very comfortable bed. Good size shower - slightly erratic water pressure and temp but we figured it out. We had a street side room but no street noise.
Breakfast was simple but good. Really good scrambled eggs, bacon, prossciutto, ham, cheeses, sweet and savory breads (one super dark, crusty, grainy bread that you hope they don't run out of!), juices, fresh fruit bowl, pots of coffee but they will do espresso or cappucino if you ask, waters.
Location convenient to train station. Walkable to center city piazzas, museums, basilica, Roman ruins, parks.
A very nice restaurant is connected to the hotel - La Linea Continua. They offer a E20 prix fixe dinner each day - the menu is posted in the elevator - as well as an a la carte menu. Interesting, well prepared food with an emphasis on local fare.
The desk staff was very helpful with directions, special requests and problem solving. Even apologetic about out receiving a parking ticket (our fault - we paid the right amount but parked in a restricted space - helps to know a bit of the language).
There is a parking garage nearby. However it does have some unusual hours so make sure you are aware. We had an early check-out because of a 6:30 flight. The garage doesn't open until 7. The hotel arranged for us to park in front (in the hotel director's space) the preceding evening. And they had breakfast bags ready for us at the desk.
All staff was very nice, helpful, friendly.
