“Central Torino, Family Owned, Charming 1 floor Hotel at a really reasonable price.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2011

We extended our 2 night stay at Hotel Artua to six nights - we simply fell in love with the staff and the building. The hotel has attentive, gracious staff, wireless, a reasonably priced laundry service and parking for your rental car hidden behind two gigantic ornately carved wooden doors. Hotel Artua is superbly located smack bang in the middle of Torino's old city hidden inside an turn of the century Torino office building, the 4th floor reception can be reached by an elevator and if you take the wide staircase featuring mosaic detailing you'll make your way past ornate lawyer's offices and wrought iron gates which will take you back in time to a Torino of old. At 70Euro's a night, this is as good as it get's for affordable accommodation with style in downtown Torino.

“Finding a hotel for our group in...”

Finding a hotel for our group in center city Torino was a bit of a challenge. We thought this was going to be a great place, but the dirty bathrooms, and lack of hot water mostly spoiled it.

The rooms were classic european hotel rooms. Not too big, and each one was different. In addition, this hotel is divided in two halves. Maybe we were in the older, less well maintained half, I don't know, but our group had the majority of the rooms on this side, and there was nobody else using the other rooms. Mornings were horrible. In my room, there was a huge skylight over the shower and cold air was streaming down on top of me. The shower was tiny, and moldy. If I could have gotten hot water I might have been able to shower and warm up, unfortunately I was not able to get any hot water the first day. The second day I got up early so I got a warmer shower but the water pressure was so low that it was impossible to really get myself wet.

The staff was pretty friendly, but only one of them spoke any english, so that made it a real challenge.

Although the web site makes it sound like you get free WiFI that is NOT TRUE, you have to pay for internet access (wired in your room) or WiFi. The website also makes it sound like you will get free transportation passes with your room. That is also NOT TRUE.

The location is quite convenient. Its a very walkable distance to the Puerto Nuova train station, City Centro is just a couple blocks away, and you are right off one of the main bus routes.

“Excellent value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2011

We stayed for 4 nights at Hotel Artua & Solferino. The hotel staff was extremely kind to us and our two children, ages 5 and 2. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and felt welcome. Our hotel room was very large and clean, and while the furnishings were certainly showing some wear, they had a certain elegance too. The high ceilings and huge windows add a sense of gracious ease to the building. The breakfasts were nice - nothing fancy, but coffee was made to order for us by a staffperson acting as barista, and the dining room was a peaceful spot to begin each day. The hotel is walking distance from the train station and downtown Turin, close to many bars, restaurants and points of interest. We used the hotel's wifi daily with no problems. I definitely recommend this hotel - it's a great value for the price.

“a great hotel which made a great holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

This is a great hotel. The expected amenities were all excellent - clean room, clean linen, plenty of hot water, plentiful breakfast, parking available. But those things (while important!) are not what makes for a good and memorable stay - that needs something else. And the Hotel Artua & Solferino has that something else. It is on the 4th Floor of a Piedmontese 'belle epoque' era apartment block. The hotel feels homely; there is a lounge area with sofa and armchairs, books in various languages - the interior decor a perfect slightly faded Art noveau. My daughter and I were given a very warm and personable welcome. The hotel has been run by the same family for over 50 years - and it showed; they know how to look after their guests - there when needed but out of the way when not. The hotel itself is situated centrally - but in a lovely quiet part of Turin with all of Turin's many sights a five minute walk away or so. And Turin has many attractions - it's a city that really seems vibrant, lively and as far as architecture goes - beautiful. Many places of course, especially in italy - are beautiful but it is being well looked after in a great hotel at a good price there that makes for a lasting impression. This hotel does all that. My stay there has made me want to go straight back for a longer stay in Turin to really explore the place and I'm definately staying back at the Artua & Solferino!
This is THE place to stay!!!

“Lovely hotel in the center of Torino with a cordial reception staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2010

My girlfriend and I spent two nights at the Artuà Solferino and we had a great time. We took a two-person bedroom, that was nice and clean (at our arrival as well after the daily cleaning). The breakfast offered a nice little range of different products in an elegant kind of saloon. The hotel itself is right in the city center of Torino with all the major piazzas in walking distance. The parking service (you can choose between a space on the street for 10 EUR a night and one of the garages inside the inner courtyard for 20 EUR a night) is a little bit expensive but as the city sights can almost all be reached by foot, it´s an easy way to know your car safe for the whole stay.
Worth mentioning was the hearty personnel. From the check-in in the middle of the night we were treated very friendly. The service was professionnell yet in a very familiar atmosphere which fits perfectly to the overall impression of the hotel.
When we come back to Torino we´ll certainly stay at this place again!
