“Never again - horrendous experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

I stayed here for 3 nights while visiting family.

The location is good, very central, and accessible. However, this is where my positive review ends.

The staff are unhelpful and rude. On the first day we arrived and the lady on reception showed us where to park our car. We were told that parking was included but would be on the road nearby, which was fine for us. The lady stood and watched us park before walking us back to the hotel.

We didn't use our car while we were in Turin (city traffic etc), but when we went to collect it upon departure, we found that we had received a parking ticket from the council. This was despite parking in an allocated hotel bay.

We went to reception to ask why this had happened, and were told that we should have displayed a hotel token in our windscreen. We were not told about this, and the same woman who had showed us where to park was present. She refused to help, despite the fact that we were speaking fluent Italian (my mother is Italian). We asked the staff how we should have known to display the token, and why no one told us to? They shrugged and tried to ignore us. We were forced to pay the fine in full.

Breakfast was awful - dry, tasteless bread and croissants - all poor quality in a 1970s decor dining area on a basement level.

I would NEVER stay here again.

“Air conditioning”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2011

Nice hotel: excellent location, totally renovated, reasonable breakfast, correct staff. But if for you air conditioning is important between 33 to 35 Celsius degrees you´ll have a problem. It seems that management and control of air conditioning doesn´t aim guest comfort. Maybe energy saving is prioritary. One day, I have claimed that the air conditioning was off and was very hot. Recepcionist answer: in Spring our air conditioning is not turned on. When air conditioning is on, the temperature control in each room has variable configuration: setting a temperature below a value that depends on the hour trun it off. I mean, you can choose nor air condiotioning nor the temperature that is comfortable for you. Usually, in the middle of the night they turn off the system. Everyday you have to fight with the staff.

“Nice place, good location.”

We stayed there for 2 nights so we could visit the wonderful Egyptian museum. We had an interior room with a simple balcony. It was very nice. Good basic place to stay, not a huge amount of charm. All went well except strange thumping sound at night. I finally figured out it was the restaurant next door working their pizza dough. Easy walking distance to almost everything in old town.

“Good, solid 3-star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 April 2011

Perfect location to tour Torino, although a little far from train station if you're dragging suitcases. Good, clean room, and kind and efficient staff. This is an honest 3-star hotel. One strange thing: the most oddly shaped toilet I've ever seen (extremely narrow seat - see photo).

“Reasonable hotel- grumpy service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2010

Stayed here as part of a package tour. Great location near downtown culture and shopping. Small lobby with computer available for a (high) fee. Staff multilingual but, with the exception of Francesca, very grumpy. When I asked for an extra pillow, I was told there was one in the room. I said "yes, but there are two of us and I need one more"- was frowned at then completely ignored. Others on my tour had similar problems with grumpy responses.
Plenty of elevators, rooms adequate size and clean. Beds a bit soft and tv was all italian, as far as we could tell. Reasonably quiet. Breakfast room kind of like a treasure hunt in the basement, nothing special at the end. We really enjoyed the restaurant for dinner, though.
