As a Juventus FC fan, I went for the opening ceremony of the new stadium. The ceremony itself was fantastic even though the match against Notts County was quite poor. However, this was expected as Juventus had to play their first league match in the new stadium 3 days later. The Hotel Plaza is just outside the centre and the area is quite nice and not chaotic like most big cities. Getting to the centre of Turin was no problem as the underground was less than a 100 metres away and it was only 3 stops right to the centre. 1 euro each way or a 3 euro day pass, which is quite cheap. My single room was quite comfortable, clean and the air-conditioner was perfect. Breakfast was quite adequate and more than you would expect in a 3 star hotel. A simple coach ride would take you to various beautiful destinations such as Milano or, better still Como with its beautiful lake. Naturally, as a football fan, my main interest was to watch matches and this hotel suited me perfectly. Torino itself is an elegant and beaqutiful city with massive squares full of lovely restaurants and quality shops. I intend to go back to Turin with my wife in the near future. I am sure she will enjoy it as well.
