“Hotel Team Members all very pleasant, bedroom clean and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2011

I stayed at Hotel President 6th January 2011 for 2 nights and spent three days exploring Torino as I had an evening flight on the Saturday. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hotel President I met three different ladies covering reception at various times who were all very pleasant, spoke English, gave me maps of Torino and advised me where to go. The Ladies in the Restaurant for breakfast and the team members cleaning the bedroms also acknowledge me each time I saw them. The bedrooms are a good size, ensuite bathroom, clean and comfortable with all basic requirements. I would compare to a 3 star standard city centre Hotel in UK. The Bus stop is very conveniently located outside the Front of the Hotel just six short stops into the centre of Torino. Get off at Palazzo di Citta. When you return the bus stop is just around the corner from here in Via Settembre xx by Piazza Giovanni just a short walk from the main centre of Torino Piazzetta Reale and The Castello (Castle) and returns again to outside the Hotel front door. Approx 2 euros. As I was travelling alone after being on business in Italy I got the bus each time into the centre, however if I had been with a colleague I would have liked to have walked and this would probably take a pleasant 20 -30 minutes and looked easy once you had found my way on the bus. Torino itself I enjoyed walking around on my own and did not feel at all uncomofrtable. The main shopping areas VIA Giuseppe Garabaldi, Via Roma and a lovely walk down Via Po to Piazza Vittorio Veneto. I also walked outside of these areas and found lovely Piazza's with seats and little Parks to sit in. There is also a large outdoor Market. I had a late lunch / early dinner in a Pizzeria/ Ristorante just off Via Po which cost euros 15 Pasta, bread and wine and also the following evening I eat in a Pizzeria/Ristorante across the road from the hotel and about a minutes walk down the road, same price and again very friendly and the food was good, some local people eating there as well. I am definately hoping to go to Torino again and stay at this Hotel. The location of the Hotel is a few minutes walk away from Stazione Dora which goes to Torino Caselle Airport. Breakfast in the Hotel was a buffet of cheeses and meats with fruit, various breads and pastries, yoghurts, fruit and coffee which again ample and this is ITALY ! ( why should an English Breakfast be expected ? !)I slept very well here this is a City Centre location after all there is bound to be a little traffic noise which I did not notice as the Hotel is set back from the road and again the area is city centre I was on my own and would like to again say I did not feel uncomfortable at any time in Torino like anywhere a case of being sensible with your bag and what you wear (i.e. not lots of jewellery !) , flat shoes and looking confident. ( Don't stand on street corners to look at you map ... bit obvious then you don't know the area ! ) This is the first time I have been compelled to write a comment on Trip Advisor after looking through some of the other comments mine experince was very positive. Well done to the Hotel President Team.

“Not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2009

We stayed at The President from 5th-9th April 2009 as we wanted to see the Turin Shroud and spend a few days relaxing.
Whilst the hotel was clean and relatively modern, we felt it was much more a 'business hotel' than one that was used to tourists. The reception staff were quite brusque and not overly helpful when it came to offering advice.
The breakfasts were fine, a selection of cereals, breads, cheese, jams, eggs and bacon but evening meals were a differnt matter. We chose to eat there one evening and the food was dire. it was expensive, there was no ambiance in the restaurant (which was also the breakfast room) and the food did not live up to the descriptions on the menu. Very disappointing.
The walk to the centre took 15-20 minutes as a previous reviewer mentioned, through uninteresting backstreets and after the third time I was wishing we'd booked somewhere nearer the town centre.
The trips to the museums and Cathedral where the Shroud is housed were interesting. Turin itself is quite small. You can certainly see most things it has to offer in 3-4 days, with no problem.
Nice town, hotel good for business trip but I wouldn't recommend it to tourists or families with small children as there is nothing for kids to do.

“A trek to the centre”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2008

Hotel President is a good example of a suburban hotel in a European city - clean and comfortable although not luxurious. It's probably slightly better in terms of comfort due to the recent re-fit. The rooms were fairly typical in size and decor and completely adequate. The TV shows Italian channels only.

The staff were helpful and friendly. None were really fluent in English but this is probably usual for a suburban hotel that seems to cater mostly for Italian business people.

The breakfast buffet has a more limited range of food and drinks than the other Italian hotels we stayed in on this trip but was still adequate, i.e. coffee and tea, cereal, pastries, yoghurt, raspberry tart (?), cold boiled eggs.

The walk into town, at least during grey December, is not particularly interesting or picturesque, but only takes about 20-30 minutes. Frankly, I think you could find accommodation closer to the city centre for the same money if you were willing to stay somewhere slightly more run down but if a walk/public transport adventure doesn't bother you the President is fine.

All in all the hotel is fine - not bad and not great. It serves its purpose perfectly.

Value for money. Great staff and secure parking inside the hotel grounds. Yes the hotel is near a busy intersection but we never heard any noise. Walking into town is about 1.5km with plenty to see.

I cannot see how one could complain about this place it is truly a 3 star hotel.

Like Sparkule I stayed at the President just after it was refurbished (Oct 2006) and was really impressed. Don't let the somewhat grubby exterior fool you - this hotel is a gem! My room was immaculate and very quiet, despite the hotel overlooking a busy intersection, and the staff were friendly, helpful and very well presented. The president is also superb value for money. I booked through Trenitalia, and got two nights there for only 120 Euros.
