“Quite old 4* hotel for a decent price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We've stayed at Diplomatic for two nights in January 2012. For sure the best years of the hotel have passed, as it's a bit worn out. It's still a good deal however, as for 50 euros you can have a quite decent place to sleep next to the main Turin's attractions, with breakfast and wifi included. Hotel offers it's own airport shuttle, but it's not worth it, as the regular bus to the Turin's airport is 200 meters away, and it cost 25% of the hotel's fare.

Room Tip: Ask for room on one of the higher floors, as the ones on the first floor has almost no sunlight comi...

“Good enough”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I was in Turin for work and wanted an hotel as a base to go around the city in the evening. The hotel is a good centric location and by walking you can reach the centre easily. Rooms are ok, good enough, not too big, not too smal. WiFi is free in the room and the breakfast buffet was good enough (unfortunately no windows so a little bit sad to stay there for a long time). Turin is a nice city and this hotel helped me to have a good experience.

“Worked For Us”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We stayed at the Hotel Diplomatic for two nights in mid-September 2011. We were between holidays in the Piedmont wine region and the Italian Lakes. The location was excellent for getting around Turin and connecting to the Italian train network at the Porta Susa train station.

Pluses were the very nice breakfast buffet, wi-fi, daily newspapers in a room off the reception area, a quiet room and helpful staff. We also ate Dinner in the restaurant one evening despite some negative comments on trip advisor. We were the first couple to show up although a few more people arrived several minutes later. The quality of the food was commensurate with the reasonable price.

Even though the hotel is somewhat dated and appears to be fading, we gave it a four star rating because our stay was trouble free.

“The most helpful reception staff and decent rooms with free wi-fi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

If you want a hotel where the reception staff will support you and help you find your feet in a new city look no further! Brilliant. There was a right old mix up, nothing to do with the hotel, but the staff calmly went about sorting my problem keeping me informed and invloved throughout.
Very close to Porta Susa and therefore highly convenient for both airport and most areas of the city.
Rooms and breakfast may not be the best ever but reliable and decent, reasonably good value.

“Uncomfortable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

Hotel is situated within a few minutes walk from Turin Porta Susa train station. Old school hotel, dated decor and furnishings - however was okay. In the heat of summer, it was not a comfortable stay. The air conditioning would not work properly.

The night attendant came along to try and fix the switch - was not good. For the amount to pay for a room, it was not value for money. The only plus side to this was the close proximity to the centre of town. Walk along Via Cernaia (under the arched walk ways) through to via Pietro Micca to arrive at castello square.

The city itself was at most closed as August is an off-season time of the year. I believe Turin comes alive during the Winter months for it's choice of skiing etc.

I would not recommend that you stay here unless you are looking for something near the train station... i would say just put up and shut up kinda thing.
