“Stylish and efficient 4-star, out of city centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Stayed here for 2 nights in June '11, before heading to lake Como. We were after a reasonably priced 4-star hotel as a base for sightseeing in Milan, and AC Milano fit the bill. We got a good deal on Otel.com so chose this hotel over more centrally located ones, after reading tripadvisor reviews that mentioned the proximity of the metro station. The room itself was very stylish, fitted out in sleek contemporary decor. Service was efficient, if not particularly friendly, as the staff are probably more accustomed to business travellers. Would have expected free wifi, but this was not the case and internet access was expensive. Was also dissapointed with the limited breakfast selection, although not completely unexpected at the price we paid.

“Clean, functional and designed for men”

I travel regularly on business to Milan and often stay in this hotel. The rooms are modern and clinical. The design is for men - golf ball soaps, large dressing gown and man sized slippers.
The beds are comfortable and pillow selection good.
Room service is expensive with two courses at least €35, free water and juice in the room is a nice touch. Breakfast is average buffet affair - no cooked to order options.
As a tourist I would steer clear and find a more central hotel with more comfort! For business its ok but beware - no soundproofing. You can hear your neighbour go to the bathroom, slam their door and 'entertain' their guest!

Room Tip: Higher floors are away from road traffic noise but lack of soundproofing in the hotel means you neve...

“Efficient hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

it was my first time to stay at an AC Hotel. The experience was not bad but the hotel is not for fusspots who would not be very happy. This property in particular is one of the very fee high rise ones in Milan and is next to the Porta Garibaldi Station. In fact it is right next to an underground passage leading right under the rail platforms so for us it was perfect as we were leaving for Paris from the same station. Check in was swift and being a Platinum Elite card holder one of my rooms was upgraded to a suite. The decor and furnishings are modern style and the suite had a separate living room and a bedroom with a large bathroom having separate shower and a jacuzzi tub. Interestingly the soaps were football shaped ones - typical of AC Milano! The bathroom had toothbrushes, shavers along with anti fatigue creams and serums too. The minibar is complimentary and the free drinks were replenished at anytime if you ran out of the supplies. Buffer breakfast having hot and cold items was served for all free on the first floor. Internet access is not free but being Platinum Elite, I was given a voucher to use for an economy package and not the faster package. Nevertheless well appreciated as it was a 18 Euro voucher. The staff are so nice and helpful and nothing seemed difficult for them as it was their aim to make life easy and comfortable for the guests and they did an excellent job. There is a very good restaurant just next to the hotel called Grani & Braci which had fantastic Italian food at reasonable prices. I highly recommend this place. Although the location is a bit out of the city center but you could simply hop into tram 2 in front of the hotel and in 10 minutes you were in front of the Duomo. Also you can walk to the railway station through the passage and there you will find lots of shops, mini markets etc. Overall a very nice property and excellent staff. The only drawback is that the property does not have any connecting rooms at all which was an issue for me with my family.

“Style over substance”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Quite surprised this rates so highly on Trip Advisor as the bad points far outweighed the good for me.

Negative:
1. The temperature in the room was absolutely boiling. When I asked reception how to work the air-con, I was told it was switched off throughout the building and there was nothing they could do to help.
2. As with many hotels throughout Europe, ironing facilities were not provided in the rooms. However, reception were also unable to provide me with a temporary iron - not great news if you're due somewhere the following day.
3. The location is somewhat isolated. As other reviewers have mentioned, if you intend to get the metro this is very close by. However if you're on foot, be prepared for a fair old hike (as well as encountering a lot of shady looking characters that appear after dark). Views from higher floors are also pretty depressing - mine overlooked the trainyard opposite.

Positive:
1. A real effort has been made to make the interior look modern and clean. Rooms are impressive (especially the bathroom) and the restaurant area is presented quite nicely.
2. A free minibar containing soft drinks was provided. Very rare to find and much welcomed.

All in all, very average indeed, and it is very unlikely I will be returning on my next visit.

“Loved this hotel. Will be back again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

When we arrived we took a taxi to the hotel which was very close by car. The room was immaculate and had a couch as well in it. The minibar was free to use ( It only had a few soft drinks and water and orange juice in it ). The breakfast was included in our rate and was one of the nicer buffet breakfasts that I've had in a hotel. There not much around the actual hotel itself apart from one restaurant. And we loved it! It's called Grani and Braci and we ate every meal that we could possibly have there. And its open until LATE which is a bonus!

If you are wanting a hotel with lots of things to do nearby this is definitely not the place to stay at.

We took several routes of public transport, all were quite easy to navigate from the hotel. We took a tram and a train. The train station is a little bit tricky to get to, you have to go through an underpass next to the hotel and go up and around to the other side to get to the station but the hotel staff are willing to help with directions.

All in all I loved this hotel and would definitely come back!
