That was a business trip and the hotel was booked by one of my customers. I must say the room was rather good (wide, nice furniture and clean bathroom), but at the same time rather cold.
There's no lift, so be prepared to carry your luggage up to the top floor (this hotel is not suitable for disabled people as there are too many stairs). Breakfast was available starting from 7.30, but in actual facts it was never ready before 7.45, which is a problem if you are there on business. I had to be at the trade fair at 8.30 and it takes about 40 minutes to go there by tube so I sometimes had to skip breakfast (which is bad for me as I hardly have time to eat when I'm working). Anyway, breakfast consisted in a cup of tea or coffee (which is not always available as they often switch the cofee machine off to save power) and a croissant. That's all. So it was extremely poor to me.
Bad habit to switch the room power off every time you are out, so when you get back into your room you have to go downstairs again to ask them to switch the power on. Just to sum up:
- Nice rooms (but cold)
- One of the ladies at the reception is a very nice person
- Extremely poor breakfast and served always too late if you are there on business
- People smoke in the lounge despite it's forbidden
- about 40 minutes by tube from the fair + other 8 minutes to reach the underground station
- internet connection available only if you have your own laptop
- Astrid Hotel Milan
