“Avoid. Just Do.”
First of all, I visit Milan every year for bussiness purposes due to the exhibitions that take place there. I usually have a couple of hotels that stay, but at that period were all full, and the only one available was Margherita, so I had to stay there.
In the reception was an old lady who could barely hear and see, but other than that she seemed a good person. But not ideal for that place. After spending 10 minutes clarifying who I was, I was told to use the lift and go to the second floor. The lift could barely fit me and my luggage, but I didn't actually find it very important.
Then I saw the door to my single bed room. It was extremely old and uncared, and I could get in with difficulty carrying my suitcase since it was a very small door.
The windows were rusty and the wallpaper was teared in places. I really wouldn't mind that, given that I was there for bussiness and I just needed a place to sleep. BUT what I did mind was the fact that the room was dirty, kind of neglecte, as if they weren't expecting any guest. But it is a hotel, right?
The bathroom was also under the same conditions an worse, and I really had difficulties in the shower since I am an 1,95cm medium built guy, so I needed some extra room there.
What I hated the most though, was the feeling of insecurity in that hotel, which is something I have never experienced in my many stays in the city of Milan. I know that the Central Station isn't supposed to be the highest class area, and I can live with that since it's functional for transportation, BUT I was inclined to put a plastic chair (yes, a plastic chair was IN the room for sitting on the desk which reminded of a garden table) beside the door for extra security reasons, since the room's wooden door was leaving a 1cm vertical opening on its connection. Basically I could just punch a medium force punch and it would break.
I HAD to stay there for 3 nights which were my worst nights ever when abroad, since my travel agent had prepaid for my stay. I had payed around 250 euros for my three night stay there (high season due to the exhibitions), when in my opinion I shouldn't have paid more than 50 euros with the breakfast (that was actually a coffee with two slices of bread and marmalade) included.
Highlights: The stains on the wall which I couldn't understand their origins.
The second night when a group of adult men where having a huge fight in the next room and no one seemed to care.
