“Good value and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

We stayed at this hotel for a 5 night break mainly to see the football at the San Siro. It was a good price and much cheaper than staying more centrally. Most importantly it was by a tram stop to the centre and the station for the subway. We took a cab when we arrived from the station as it was late at night and we weren't sure where we were going - I would advise doing this as it was a cheap ride and a little hard to find in a dark, foreign city! That was the last time we bothered with a taxi though.
The hotel room was small but in line with other European cities. The room was a little too hot though considering it was winter as we were unable to change the temperature which must work centrally. We used to open the window which was ok if it wasn't raining. I wouldn't suggest this is a place to stay on a honeymoon or even if you intend to hang around the hotel for some luxury. It is a purely functional place to sleep. The staff were a bit hit and miss which was a shame. I would stay here again if I was on a short break to see the city.
There are lots of cheap restaurants nearby which don't charge rip off tourist prices which is good! Especially some cheap pizzerias!

“Just a roof over your head”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

After years of Asian hospitality - superb hotels and great service all over Asia and South Asia for far less in tariff than this Holiday Inn, I was appalled by my Holiday Inn experience in Milan. Everything, even a toothbrush, has to be asked for and the surly waitstaff can take hours to get it for you. Their English is appalling - which is an inexcusably insular attitude - even in the depths of Indonesia, I am able to make myself understood with English - and they are just so late with the smallest of requests. The restaurant likewise, is slow, late, forgets your requests. Made me wonder what the big deal is and why anyone wants to stay in Europe if everything's so bad. Let 'em just emigrate to the Cook Islands or whatever and leave some enterprising immigrants to run the economy.

“Modest and satisfies necessity”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

my wife & myself had been to milan in march 2011 for me it was sweet memories of Milan since I had stayed for 6 months in Milan in 1985. The room didn't have toiletories after requesting the manager decided to provide free toiletoties which helped my fellow colleagues. There were two gates which was consuming lot of time in entering & exiting from the hotel

“Charming hotel, perfect rooms, weak location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

Spent 3 nights within summer sale period, so the main destination was a very center of the city. To get there we needed to pick up a tram. Fortunately the stop is more than close to the hotel. It took some 10 minutes to get to Duomo. Last time stayed at Ibis centro, it was pretty closer. Generally, if you do not mind to use public transport and do not worry about very limited possibility to eat out in the evenings-this hotel is Ok. What really made me happy-great clean big and comfortable. Thanks Holiday Inn for a pleasant stay!

“Should be considered when in Milan”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

This is a small Holiday Inn. The rooms are clean and have the basic amenities: kettle, satellite TV, mini-bar fridge and in-room paid WiFi access. The beds are comfortable. The air-conditioning is not very consistent throughout the hotel (I had a room with reasonably good air-conditioning, whilst a business partner ended up in a room with a poorly performing unit). The thermostats have been set to shut the AC off pretty quickly so you won't have air circulating in the room. This was an issue for me; I start to feel claustrophobic if there isn't air circulating. Although on the convergence of two main thoroughfares, traffic noise was not an issue at all. I was in a room on the fifth floor.

The hotel dining should be quite all right. I personally chose to dine at neighborhood eateries, having the same workman's fare as the locals. There are convenience stores and grocery stores within walking distance, so getting supplies will not be too much of an issue.

Garibaldi station is a 10 minute walk away. I personally used the trams (stops are right outside the hotel) whilst in Milan. Tickets for transportation can be purchased at dispenser machines at any Metro station, I personally recommend getting the "10 Urban Trip" tickets...I digress. The hotel is 8 tram stops from the Duomo and 5 or 6 stops from the Castella.

Staff are friendly and helpful enough. I had no issues with getting help and directions from the Milanese! One of the friendlier cities in Europe!

Room Tip: Try to get rooms on the fifth floor, this might minimize traffic noise.
