The room can only be described as “basic” at best. A Travelodge or Little Chef room would have been far superior in every way. None of the plugs worked apart from the inaccessible one which the TV was plugged into. The only working power outlet was situated in the bathroom, most inconvenient.
The noise in the room was intolerable at all hours both from guests, the management were not interested, but worst of all from the underground trains which constantly shook the entire building. My wife complained about the size/ condition of both her and our son’s room and was told that they were the only ones available i.e. “go away”. The lift to all floors was a filthy death trap and again covered in graffiti with no attempt at removal of same.
The “full English breakfast” as advertised did not exist in any form, stale bread, stale meats, stale cakes and undrinkable tea or coffee. A disgrace.
The TV in the room next to Mrs Stuart was left switched on at full volume until the guests returned at approximately 2am every night and complaints to the management achieved nothing. All in all “terrible”, never, never to be repeated. The hotel is rated as four star, we would not give it one.
My wife slept with a chair “jammed” against the door every night and this may give you some indication of how “threatened” and unsafe she felt.
The rooms had no safe and when Mrs Stuart asked if she could leave valuables/ passports in the hotel safe she was told that this was not possible. The choice then had to be made as to whether to take your valuables into town and risk being robbed or left in the room and risk them being stolen. Thank god none of which happened!
