The location is perfect, near to Centralstation and Metro's.
Very close by is a large park with a nice restaurant and excellent for morning runnings.

The staff is not at all interested in their work unfortunately.
One older man is very nice, but the others are never smiling with no aim to give you any service at all.

The rooms are great - we stayed on the 3rd floor - newly renovated in one double and in a triple on 1st floor with balcony. In our room there were a huge spider web, otherwise clean and well planned.

The breakfast is small, but this is very common in italian hotels and contains more sweets than real breakfast.

If you want a good hotel for a good price and don't care about rude front desk I recommend this!

Booked twin room back in January for a two night stay in April. Arrived at hotel to be told that they did not have a twin room for us but would give us two single rooms for the same price. Receptionist wasn't very pleasant and basically it was take that or nothing. We had no choice but to take them. We are two females and one room was on the first floor and the other on the 3rd floor. The rooms were small and unpleasant particularly the room on the 1st floor. Later on that night we asked a different receptionist why we didn't get our twin room and he asked if we weren't happy. When we said no he said he couldn't do anything that night but would speak to his colleague in the morning. What was then even more unpleasant was that a bottle of beer in the mini bar in the room on the 1st floor had been tampered with and was filled with urine! This is disgusting and anybody staying at this hotel would be advised to be very careful if they decide to have drink from the mini bar. The next morning we were handed the keys to a twin room which was much better (although without a hairdrier). We handed the bottle of beer over to the manager at reception who did not seem surprised so think they must be used to this happening. Breakfast was no more than average. The location of the hotel is excellent though.

We booked to stay at the Hotel Sempione through Late Rooms a couple of days before arriving, and secured the booking with a credit card on the Late Rooms site. On arrival, the gentleman on reception, in an aggressive tone similar to that described by another reviewer, that they didn't have a room for us as they had emailed (despite us also leaving a phone number in our reservation) to inform us that our card "didn't work". The card had, of course, been accepted when we booked.

It actually transpired that they did have rooms available, but just not at the rate we had booked at. This smelt of a scam to persuade people to pay a (much) higher rate for their rooms at the last minute, so we walked around the corner and stayed at the Baviera Hotel where we were met with a very friendly welcome.

In short, I wouldn't recommend you stay here.

My sister and I spent one night at the hotel last August. We booked two nights but because she suffered an injury a few days earlier, we decided to change the reservation: to come one day later and stay only one night. We asked a friend to send an email with notification, to discover later on that the only way to change reservation was to call the hotel directly. Anyway, on our arrival I asked whether they got posted, and was told, in quite an aggressive manner that they did not and I was immediately presented with the receipt for the whole stay, which I paid without complaint. My sister, visibly wearing an orthopedic corset, and I were accompanied by a friend who was helping us with the luggage but was not the hotel guest. Seeing the three of us the receptionist repeated twice that the room is for 2 and not 3 people which we acknowledged and said twice that only the two of us are staying. When we moved towards the elevator we were shouted at "Where is he going?! You have a double room!". So we explained that "he" was helping with the luggage to my sister who had problems walking, not to mention lifting a heavy suitcase. At that they left us in peace but nobody offered us assistance with luggage instead of "him". Ten minutes later, when we got to the room and my sister could stretch for a few minutes on the bed after 4-hour train journey, the telephone rang and an annoyed receptionist tild my sister the room was a double and the guy who is there has to leave immediately, which about 3 minutes later he did.

OK. So this is just my personal experience of Sempione Hotel's hospitality. But to be fair I have to say that the hotel has a good location - both the underground and the railway station (as well as the stop for Bergamo airport shuttle) are within walking distance and has a decent price for MIlan standards. Our room was small but clean, the bathroom though cramped - you can barely move in there. The breakfast was very good but the breakfast nook very little, with just a few small tables, so people had to wait in line.

  • Liked — Close to the railway station
  • Disliked — Front desk attitude and cramped bathroom

I stayed at the Hotel Sempione during a 4 day trip to Milan for a conference. It is really close to the metro station, so it makes traveling around Milan easy.

The room was clean, the breakfast was good and the staff was certainly able to answer my questions.

This is a good place to stay if you are just visiting Milan for a few days and won't be spending that much time in your hotel room. I found it to be enough of a room for one person on a quick business trip.
