We were comped for our stay in this hotel, and otherwise would have never chosen it, nor discovered the neighborhood which had some redeeming features to it. Tons of construction going on made the comings and goings a bit tricky, and it is over the general price category of our previous choices in Milan. A friendly greeting at the front desk, a hike to our spacious and nicely outfitted room were definite pluses. Extremely difficult to reach anyone by phone at the front desk, three requests for additional hangers which we never received, and surly service at the bar when we requested ice and an ice bucket to chill a bottle of wine. The same gentleman assisted with a plastic bag, determined to be of service. My biggest complaint is that of all the places we stayed in in Europe this time, this one, the one with the most stars, was the one that charged for wifi. A hefty 22 euro (over $30 per day) seemed geared toward the expense account traveler who simply does not care. A huge breakfast buffet, and otherwise pleasant and comfortable stay was unfortunately compromised by the inability to access the web. As with many accommodations where we stayed, their Trip Advisor designation was proudly displayed. Here's hoping they read the reviews and next time we can sign on for free.
