“Excellent hotel - great facilities, location and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Melia Hotel in Milan for our wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. From the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out, it was fantastic.
We came early (about 11am) and registered since we couldn't fully check in. When we came back in the late afternoon, our luggage had already been taken to our room and the key was sitting ready at the desk. All very smooth and very 'five star'!
Our room was absolutely lovely - bigger than we were expecting, perfectly clean and very well appointed. The free one hour of internet per room per day is a nice touch.
We didn't eat in the restaurant at any point, so can't comment on that.
The gym is fantastic - this is the best hotel gym I've been to in Europe. Very big and lots of equipment.
The spa treatments looked good and the prices fair for a hotel spa, but they were heavily booked and there wasn't an appointment at a time that suited me, so I didn't try it.
The hotel is very close to the metro, which makes this a VERY convenient location - it's out of the hustle and bustle of the city (very quiet at night, which is good for light sleepers), but only 10 minutes from the centre.
The staff are excellent - every single interaction we had was perfect. Particularly the spa & gym staff who I spoke with quite a lot - they were genuinely interested in helping and it seemed like nothing was too much trouble.
We will definitely stay here again and will recommend it to our friends.

“Very Elegant and convient to subway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

This is a very nice hotel. I can't comment on the price because my company took care of everything. Friendly front desk staff. Very nice and spacious rooms. Everything spotless, especially the bathroom. Nice workout facitlity and business office to get online or print out documents. Nice quiet par of town with a subway and supermarket right around the corner. Several places to grab a simple breakfast or lunch. Nice area to go running. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

“Good Standard”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

I have stayed at the Melia a few times over the years and was never disappointed. My stay this week was no exception, its a good standard hotel which does most things very well and is in a good location near to the Fiera and the San Siro Stadium. Rooms are comfortable and clean if a little dated. Think the WiFi should be free though as its quite slow and not reliable.

“Average and comfortable.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

Hotel is located not too far from regular attractions what Milan has to offer. Metro/Train station is in the vicinity and this makes the location convenient.

I am still finding it difficult to understand if the hotel is "tired looking" or if it has got the "old charm". The standard rooms are definitely small and tired looking. The executive rooms are spacious and has even got a walk-in closet. Most rooms have an attached balcony which was a plus for me as a smoker. Hotel beds are comfortable and clean.

Hotel amenities are plenty and of good quality. There is a decent variety of TV channels for entertainment in many languages as well as some good reading materials available free of cost inside the room and lobby area.

Well equipped business center is available at lower lobby level.
I really enjoyed going for breakfast buffet in this hotel and it is something never to miss.

In-room dining is good and the quality of food and portion size is very good. Room service staff are on the ball and switched on at all times. I must mention "Mr.Hematha" from room service division who attended to my dining requests was very efficient, friendly and confident in what he was doing.

I am not too impressed by the front office staff and their service. I have felt there was no consistency in the service offered. one moment they are friendly and helpful and the next minute everything seems to be too much of a hassle for them. i.e. request for an adaptor, or change of room. Hotel doorman certainly does not make eye contact with the guests which makes the first impression negative, Obvious fact was he was more interested in flirting with young women in the hotel lobby than attending to paying guests! Not good!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony.

“Pretty Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Stayed at the Melia Milano for 2 nights - pretty unremarkable really. Cannot see how the hotel is rated 5* but apparently it is. Room was clean & tidy, well appointed, as was the bathroom. Location is very "local" and is fine if you want to use the metro. Otherwise it is a €25 taxi ride to the middle of town which can be a pain. Staff were pleasant and efficient in general. The breakfast experience was quite negative having to sit outside in the restaurant lobby as there were no seats (and very little food) inside. Same experience in the bar, although there must have been a function going on - just not enough space and not enough staff. We also experienced drilling and hammering early on a Saturday morning as the hotel seemed to be gearing up for a majour event. As the title states, nothing really wrong with the hotel, all pretty average and quite expensive for what it is.

Dear BigTaps,

I'm sorry to come to know his disappointment in this way. Specifically about the Saturday's morning noise. We are committed to the renewal of certain but this mustn’t interfere with the regular life of the hotel and the guest’s stay.
I have already shared his information with all the staff so that there will be no more such unpleasant situations.
