“not a design hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2010

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for just one night, in October 2010. We chose to stay there because we like design hotels and it is close to corso como, a new mainstream area. We booked the room through Splendia and we also checked what other visitors had said at tripadvisor's webpage. Our experience however wasn't very positive. First of all, it was very difficult to reach and find it, by car. Also, our room was not as shown in the pictures of the hotel. It was big and spacious but not what you expect for a design hotel. It was our third time in Milan. The first time, we had stayed at Mediolanum hotel and the second time at Watt Tredici. Compared to them, the una hotel tocq is our least favorite.
We didn't also like the fact that we had to pay 20 Euro for parking and 6 euro for 1/2 hour internet access. The hotel is indeed next to via corso como and there are plenty of bars in that area, but this can not be a good reason for us to change our opinion.

Dear Sir,
from April 2008, when Milan won the contract for the Universal Exposition 2015, the city has been completely filled with construction sites, new buildings, skyscrapers and a new underground lines.
Many important buildings and part of the city center will be completely renovated and guests will find new urban complexes, offices, theaters and communication lines.
These important changes have caused many problems for traffic.
I understand the inconveniences you have encountered to reach the UNA Hotel Tocq that is located in a central position, right in the heart of downtown.
Unfortunately, these problems are caused by circumstances beyond our control.
Regarding the parking charge we would like to inform you that it's a private garage, however I promise you that the charge is in line with other parking charge.
We sincerely hope we may have the pleasure of welcoming you back to UNA Hotel Tocq in the future.

“Central and comfortable but pack your suitcase well”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2010

We liked this hotel as it is centrally located (off Corso Como, where there are many shops and fancy bars/clubs/restaurants), rooms are comfortable, the breakfast is excellent (big buffet with a lot of choice) and the price is reasonable if you manage to get the right offer (we paid EUR 80 per night for a double room with breakfast)
Negative points
- furniture is a bit old
- no iron in the rooms nor available at the hotel reception and no express dry cleaning/pressing service hence if you need to iron a shirt before a meeting you have no solution

“Great location, crummy experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2010

The location is ideal as it is near one of the metro lines and near the Corso Como with many bars and restaurants.

Our room was actually very nice and spacious, but the A/C was regulated by the hotel and did not get any cooler than 25 celsius for our two-day stay (and it was very hot and humid during the weekend we were in Milan).

Also, we asked to use an iron (apparently not allowed in Italy hotels), and they said that one the maids would "be happy to iron the clothes for you." What we received back was 4 dry-cleaned articles with a 20 euro invoice attached. When I contested the charge at checkout (I didn't really think the ironing would be free), they were defensive and dismissive saying, "of course you have to pay this bill - we don't offer this for free." I tried explaining that we did not ask for the clothes to be cleaned, just pressed, but this conversation was going nowhere. The staff at checkout were some of the rudest hotel staff I have ever come across in many years of travel.

The nicest thing I have to say about the hotel is that the breakfast is fantastic and the only friendly staff in the entire hotel were the breakfast servers.

We won't be going back to the Una Tocq when we return to Milan.

Dear DannyDollars,
we do apologise for the situation occurred but, at the same time we are also very surprised as such an inconvenient is unknown among our guests.

It is not our intention to put our guest's attestation into question but please understand that with an average yearly occupancy of thousands of guests we take extreme care of hygiene and cleanliness of all our rooms and common areas.

Moreover the insects are know to be possibly present on flights and public transports it is very hard to say where a person may have come in contact with them.

Anyway following your report we have provided to perform a complete disinfestations of the room you slept in.

“good location, but I won't be going back”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2010

good location, close to restuarants, shops and night life, however for the price of the hotel I don't think it was worth it. Don't be fooled by the hotel sites photos, it's not that nice. The one staff I came in contact with was rude and not helpfup. I won't be going back. A bar is right across the street, and although this is great if you're looking for nightlife it kept me up most of the night.
