“Enjoyable stay”

We stayed here for three nights and we were very satisfied with the hotel. The Room was small as you would expect here, but it was just fine. The bed was comfortable and was a decent king size, not a double which we liked a lot.

The bathroom was again small but fine. I would issue a word of warning, if you are a very large person you might not fit in the shower, it was the smallest I have ever seen. There was however lots of water pressure and hot never ran out.

It is true that the hotel is a little out of the city ctr, however I loved the ride in the tram to the Duomo. You can buy a pass from reception for the metro, trams, busses etc which lasts for 24 hours from the time you validate it. Great value!

The reception was a little hit or miss but was never terrible and I always got the help i needed. Check in was easy and fast.

Breakfast was much better than we expected and you can have scrambled eggs if you want them.

I would say the Astoria is a great choice if you would like to save a little money on the city ctr hotels, without being so far away that its a burden. We would stay here again.

“Nice enough for a couple of nights”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2011

Rented two rooms, one double and one triple. The rooms were quite small & clean, but smelled of cigarette smoke. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were very flat and quite difficult to sleep on.

The bathrooms were also extremely small. I don’t understand the need to cram a bidet in the bathroom that small. The showers were the best though. Great pressure and great shower heads. No shower enclosures so be prepared to have a wet bathroom after you shower.

The reception staff, Andrea, Alex & Enrico, were the shining stars. They all were extremely helpful and friendly.

“Good hotel for a few days away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2011

Booked this hotel via Best Western web site. Really nice hotel with nice, helpful attentive staff. Quite small room but big enough for 3 nights. Shower cubicle was extremely small and accessed by climbing over the bidet but loads of hot water towels etc. Very quiet on 4th floor at the back away from the road. Breakfast was good but all cold with pleanty of meat and cheese, rolls and pastries. May get boring after a few days though!
Location was OK but a bit far out of the centre. Tram 16 behind hotel runs to centre every few minutes and takes about 15 mins to centre. Trollybus 90 to main train station takes about 35mins. Lotto Metro is the closest but 1KM away so take the 90 Trolley bus 2 stops to Metro (Lotto). Buy tickets from the coffee house on the corner before you travel and remember to validate it.
Many good restaurants at 600m but ask reception as they can recommend . The 900 is a bit expensive but terrific food and try the buffet starter!
From the Hotel there is a supermarket at 100m. Try the FEI DA restaurant opposite the supermarket for a good chinese at small prices. Very friendly and local, very good.
Tourist information is difficult to find. It is opposite the castle ion the corner of the piazza and not in the main station or the Dauno.
Enjoy the Astoria we did!

“Reasonable, value for money.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2010

Stayed 4 nights in May 2010. Clean room although slightly small, breakfast very good. Supermarket and tramstop just round corner. (Tram direct to city centre). Although hotel on city ring road which can be noisy; ask for room at back - much quieter! Garage parking just up the road at special hotel rate.
