“A 4-star hotel with poor service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

Auriga Hotel is conveniently located close to the main train station in Milan. The room I stayed in was clean, spacious and nicely decorated for a 4-star hotel. My room was a non-smoking room. But on occasion the stench of cigarette smoke from the main corridor would enter my room as well. Also, one has to pay to use wifi in this hotel. I've been in 2-star Italian hotels that provide free wifi. Even the McDonalds down the street provides free wifi. Why is it that this hotel can't do the same?

The service provided by the staff was very poor. The front desk staff seemed grumpy and unapproachable. As well as the waitresses in the breakfast area were inattentative. One waitress brought me a coffee. A minute later I got up to grab a yogurt from the breakfast bar only to come back to find my table had been cleared including the coffee which I hadn't even touched yet. The next day, I asked for coffee again and ended up waiting 20 minutes before it arrived. If it were busy I could understand the long wait but it wasn't busy that morning in the breakfast area. Only about four tables were occupied and there was three waitresses waiting on us.

This hotel has potential to be great but the staff need to be retrained and wifi should be a free service provided.

“Excellent, comfortable hotel close to station”

Had 2 nights in this hotel in September (for the F1 Garnd Prix at Monza) and was delighted with our choice. It is very convenient, close to the Stazione Centrale, and very comfortably furnished. The rooms were very large with comfy armchairs, an enormous bed and air conditioning - which was very welcome in the hot September evenings! Staff very helpful and friendly and breakfast superb with very nice coffee, Nice, comfy armchairs and sofas in the lounge also. Highly recommended as it is easy to access all of Milan by the metro which is just across the road.

“Small Business Traveller Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

Very clean and well maintained hotel on the opposite side of the square of the central station. It is a long walk to the main shopping areas, but there are many restaurants in the area to suit all tastes and pockets. The staff make you feel very welcome and pleased to help. Rooms are small but very pleasant, but it is possible to hear and feel the metro trains passing beneath the hotel, but only if you pay attention to it. Small bar which serves as a breakfast room, serving typical buffet Italian breakfast of croissants, fruit, cold ham and cheese, coffee and red orange juice from Sicily. I have stayed in this hotel many times and have no complaints.

“Pleasant experience in Milan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2011

Stayed one night at the Auriga Hotel on a stop-over in Milan. We did not have a reservation when we arrived and decided to see what was available near the central train station. Walked out the main entrance of the station and we could see the awning of the hotel. Walked there in less than five minutes. Lobby very nice and the desk clerk friendly and welcoming. The price was 120 euros/night and included breakfast. The room and bathroom were very nice, bed comfortable and breakfast the next morning really good. Everyone at the hotel was pleasant and helpful with directions, sites to see and restaurants. Enjoyed our time in Milan and our stay at the Auriga Hotel.

“Great Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 April 2011

This very clean yet small hotel was quite adequate for our business trip, being so close to the Central Train Station (Centrale) in Milan and the city centre. However, if you are used to large 4-star hotels all over the world, you might be quite surprised that this kind of hotel still exists: It is a place where you feel the revival of the Golden 80ies: the old fashioned interior in dark green and beige, the last-generation key, the very limited breakfast buffet, the missing gym facilities, the extremely small and little cosy rooms... it all feels not Milan. Although the service was excellent (with the exception of the wake-up call which was 20 minutes late), we were missing a proper business centre, bar service during the evenings for late meetings, a room service and a gym.
If you want to stay one or two nights to shop or sightsee Milan, this might be a perfect solution: central location, clean and cheap. Business meetings: not really.
