Stayed there one night on business this week. The room is small, or compact, if you like. My room was facing the busy road and was very noisy. One should ask for a quieter room or take earplugs. In any case, it is crying out for refurbishment.
What really made the stay stand out, though, was the staff. It seemed that any request was too much trouble for them. And I did not ask for anything major, just asked things like if there was somewhere they would recommend where I could get something light to eat. Their bar food in their terrace was suggested, but this terrace is facing the said busy road, thus it was not the most attractive proposition. I checked their restaurant, too. There were only two people dining in the entire place at the time. The waiter was least welcoming, and when I asked to see their menu, another waiter rudely pointed out that there was one outside, thus chucking me out, so I decided not to trouble them any further. When my husband phoned me a couple of times, the operator managed to be rude and impatient to him, too. How difficult is it to put somebody through to a guest room without letting it be know how unwelcome your call is? I award them the most surly hotel staff of the year.
