“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Check in a bit slow as they didn’t notice me as they were chatting in the office but after that the service was great. I was in a very nice room on the 4th floor facing the back so it was very quiet. They give you a voucher for free internet, its supposed to be an hour free but they gave me extra. The location is fine and once you have figured it out its 10 minutes to the station on foot. If you take the other direction you will come out on Corso Buenos Aires which has over 350 shops and outlets. Just at the start there is BAR GATTO, Via Pier Luigi Da Palestrina, 1. Go for breakfast / lunch as there is a great atmosphere there and really friendly service.
Downsides of the hotel, breakfast finishes at 10am and I think at the weekend they could stretch to at least 10.30am as also if you want it in your room its 8€ to deliver. Breakfast was not the best ever but the dining room staff bring you fresh coffee or tea. Amenities were low, 1 shampoo & 1 bath gel, no moisturizing cream which I would have expected in a 4* hotel.

Over all a great stay and I would for sure go back.

Room Tip: get a room at the back.

“Our Italian Home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

The ADI Milan was amazing.
Travelers: 2 twenty year old females - Canadian
We had been travelling around Italy by train for a couple of weeks and we truly felt at home in Milan thanks to this Hotel. Before this we had stayed in a smaller hotel in Bolzano (Dont miss this town: Italian alps, Otzi the iceman, so peaceful) and we didnt know what to expect. The hotel is located about 3 or 4 blocks from the train station from which we walked with all our luggage (not difficult). I found the location perfect, it was in a side neighborhood still downtown, surrounded by smaller businesses and quiet streets. The subway is just around the corner from the hotel (which the staff was more than helpful in pointing out) which is by far the easiest subway to get around on. The entire hotel is Victorian feeling - the rooms were great and larger than most in Italy. They also had an electronic system for housekeeping, press a button on the inside that would connect outside the room to let housekeeping know if you wanted your room turned out. The food was great in the morning (get there early). Milan has the best shopping, art galleries and museums found around the duomo and park.
The only trouble we had was finding a laundromat. This was an adventure. After asking the desk (female, quite unhelpful) and going out on two unsuccessful trips with almost a months worth of laundry, we found ourselves at least 20 blocks from the hotel. Luckily a local business owner (with absolutely no english) locked up his shop to walk us another couple of blocks to a laundromat. Safe to say if you need laundry wait for Firenze - they are everywhere!

“Average hotel with a good location”

We stayed there from 31 Dec 2011 till 3 Jan 2012, 3 nights at about Euro 87.45 per night for a double room. When we first arrived in Milan and it being our first time there, it took us a while (about 30 mins) to find the hotel though we had a map with us. Thanks to a nice old gentleman who pointed us to the right road. After which, it always take us about 10 mins to get to Stazione Centrale

I like the fact that there is a small supermarket just across the road, easy access to groceries. Further down the hotel about 5 mins walk, you will reach Corso Buenos Aires where you can find McDonalds and some shops.

I think we had room 828 (or 826, I can't remember exactly).
Rooms are cleaned daily with towels changed.
While certain part of the hotel has definitely aged, it did not quite bother us as we were out most of the time anyway. However, one thing to note is that the hair dryer in my room was spoilt.

Breakfast was good, can't complain about the variety offered. The breakfast room's staff were also friendly and helpful.
Front desk gentlemen were kind too and helped us with quite a fair bit of our questions.

I would have loved it if they can provide free WIFI service. 1 hour per stay, whether you stay 1 night, 3 nights or 5 nights is too little. Else, 1 hour per night will work better.

“Ordinary...”

First of all we paid 125 euro for a Thursday night, room and hotel is not worthy of a 4 star hotel, it is old and the bathrooms are old fashioned yet clean.

The beds are TERRIBLE. It is like sleeping on a flat timber panel. Ridiculously HARD.

The breakfast was ok, full American buffet consisted of watery scrambled eggs and bad bacon, although the continental side was very good.

Special mention about Internet, first of all we were under the impression the the Internet was included in our room price however that is not the case. And the rude front desk staff told me to "go check" when I asked. Also don't bother trying if you use Mac. They don't support Mac and the internet is therefor unavailable at all times, technology goes with the aged hotel.

Special mention to the male front desk staff who were mother but rude for the duration of the stay. Pull your heads out!

Also mention the hotels best feature is it close proximity to the metro line and 5 minute walk from central Milano station.

Dear Ryan 086,
Thank you for taking time to write your opinion. We do not intend to debate it, of course it's a personal feeling.
The only thing we would like to mention is about the Internet access. Our system is new and it DOES support Mac: as everyone knows Pc may have particular settings and it is sometimes hard for guests to get a wifi connection if they are not familiar with changing them, expecially for company's pc, not depending if it is a Mac or not.
For common information at Doria Grand Hotel you can find an Internet office with a pc at disposal and a printer as well.
Every guest has 1 hour free Internet connection per stay per room , if you need to stay connected longer you can buy a 4- or a 8 Hour connection.

Kindest Regards,
The Managment

It was a geat choice... we paid 74euros for a double room with breakfast during christmas.Very good location. Very close to metro (~ 3 min walk) and Stazione (to get the bus to the airport ~ 10 min walk) and good connection to duomo and other sites with tram... The breakfast was very good... croissants, toast bread, fruits etc. The room was very clean (they clean the room every day) and the bathroom was big...
