I've been at the Madison several times in 2009-2011, mostly during two/three night business trips to Milan, and recently for a 1 night stay for a trip which required a stop in Milan.
The Madison has been mostly renovated in the last two years. (Most) rooms are now stylish and functional, completely renovated. We did not book "superior" rooms in our recent stay, but both rooms had just been refurbished. Large beds, enough space and some nice touches like led lighting and a kettle complete the description. Rooms and bathrooms always looked clean.
Curiously, the hotel seems to be getting the facelift starting from the rooms, instead of beginning from the reception and shared spaces, so the first look is not very good.
Breakfast (which I enjoyed only during previous stays) is served at the top floor, in a large, bright room with a pleasant view, somethings rare in many hotels in Milan.
All staff people I dealt with were friendly; during my last stay, I left early in the morning, well before 7 am; after checking out I enjoyed a "light breakfast" at the bar, again a detail you may not be getting elsewhere in Milan, not at this price point. Price seems to vary heavily based on the dates of your stay, but the hotel is generally good value for money. Advance payment from the site gets the best rates.
Did not test wifi services, which look as a pay-per-use service.
The hotel is a 2 minutes walk from the railway station, which also is an underground station for two lines.
Should you get there by car you have to arrange for parking (reserve) in one of the few parking spaces available in the courtyard, and also be careful with local traffic restrictions/regulation enforced in Milan.
Avoid walking around the hotel at night, the station is definitely not a nice place to be later than 8 pm.
