Located just a block from the Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, the location can't be beat. The center of the city is very easy to walk around in, and you can roam around quite a lot without even needing public transportation, though the Duomo metro station is also very conveniently near.
Stayed here for 2 weeks for work in December - I stayed in the older section of the hotel. From other reviews, it does seem that the renovated section is much nicer, but I can only review what I stayed in. In the standard room, the carpet has seen better times, and is worn down in spots. Everything, including the bathroom, is clean though - for me the most important thing in a hotel. The bed and pillows are acceptable. If you come in the 'shoulder' season, when A/C has been turned off in favor of heating, but the outside temps might not be quite cold enough, and you end up cracking open the window - depending on which room you're in, it can get quite a bit noisy with cleaning crews and what not in the surrounding streets. Requesting an interior room in cases like this would quickly solve this though.
Breakfast at the hotel gives you a good variety of breads, about 3 types of cold cuts and cheeses, cereals, yogurt, and some fruit. Coffee was decent. The thing is, this is the same breakfast every single day. I don't think I saw anything change my whole stay. Everything was fresh, just wished there was a bit of variety day to day. The hotel does have a lounge serving aperitivo at night, but no full service restaurant for dinner. That's ok, as there is quite a bit of choice in the immediate area.
If I came back for pleasure, I'll be sure to get at least a deluxe room, as the standard room may leave you wishing for more.
