A four night stay on Room Only basis at Holiday Inn Milan, the hotel is in the Lorenteggio district of Milan and is 3 km from the Centre of Milan.
Check in was fine, the lady at reception was very friendly and explained that on the day of our arrival the hotel was no longer part of the Holiday Inn chain but now owned and run by the Idea group of Italian hotels.
We were given a double room on the fifth floor, a spacious room with dated décor but with a lot of amenities including TV with a good selection of channels, comfortable bed, sitting area with Sofa and Table, complimentary bottles of mineral water supplied daily, well stocked mini-bar, tea and coffee facilities, trouser press.
On the ground floor opposite the reception is ‘Il Molinetto’ Restaurant which was open for Breakfast but remained closed for the rest of day during the course of our stay. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a large selection of hot and cold food including tasty pastries, a good selection of fruit and a self serve coffee/hot drink machine. The staff in the restaurant were always friendly and attentive.
Getting to and from Milan without a car is straightforward, buses 50 and 78 stop immediately outside the hotel alternatively there is Tram 14 that goes to Duomo. There is also an hourly train from Milano Porta Genova at xx.40hrs each hour to Milano San Christoforo which is about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel.
The hotel may not be an ideal base for Milan City but the polite and friendly staff and facilities make up for the minor disadvantages and would happily stay again.
