“Horrible Hotel..Poor service and FAR away from city center”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2011

I really did not understand why this hotel got 4 stars. I would give it 3r at most. The rooms were small, there were patches of unfinished drywall in our room. Worst of all, the service was horrible. We asked for hot water, the night guy just shrugged and gave us attitude. We had to ask the lady at the restaurant for some hot water....Then another night our room key didn;'t work, we asked the front desk and again gave us attitude. .Also the hotel was very far away from center. Paid for internet access. =/

“Not bad if you like to use trams”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2011

In the end of September was already chilly weather in Milano, but air conditioner in the hotel (like in many Italian hotels) wasn't working to heat the room, so take it into account if you plan to visit Italy in autumn before November. The hotel is located far away from the city center, but there's the tram stop near it, so you can get to the nearest metro station or even to the city center (Duomo). Except one evening when the tram didn't arrive and didn't take us back to the hotel (it happened because of the fashion event on Duomo sq.), it was working as expected. There's the shopping center with a big supermarket and a few fashion stores in the walking distance from the hotel (~10 min.) The hotel itself is not bad. We've received nice and clean room and the service was good. Breakfast at the hotel was on the level expected from 4 star hotel in Europe. It was a good choise for us - good value for money.

“Good hotel, bad breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2011

The hotel was nice, it is located far from the center but there is a direct tram line just across hotel. The room was very nice, clean, although there was some fungus spots around the bathroom shower, but nothing scary. The people were polite and helpful. However the breakfast was quite bad - there was only one type of ham and one type of cheese. The bread and the muffins were good though. Most of the items finishes early and there were no replacement. Don't get me wrong, you will not leave hungry, but this wasn't at all a breakfast for 4 star hotel, no way sir! Overall it was a good stay.

“Middle of the road”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2010

We stayed at Raffaello for a few nights during my husband's business trip to Milan. The hotel itself was fine, but nothing really stood out in retrospect.

Locationwise, the hotel is about a 20-minute tram ride from downtown Milan, but it's easy to catch the tram just outside the hotel. Our room was clean and a decent size - we had three single beds that we simply pushed together to create one huge one. Plenty of sleeping room for my husband, toddler and I, and the beds themselves were very comfortable. Our bathroom had no tub, just a shower.

The breakfast buffet was pretty extensive, but the quality of everything was just so-so. The staff was helpful, but not overly friendly. The elevator that took us up to our room was tiny and a little scary!

We've also stayed in the Hotel Mirage right across the street, and honestly, I'd choose it over Raffaello because of nicer staff, better rooms, bathtubs, and a better breakfast.

“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2010

We stayed a long weekend in this hotel and won the hotel via priceline for 300 dollar for 3 nights.

When we arrived after our flight AMS-Malpensa around midnight they told us we had a single room. We were not happy with that and at the end the reception gave us a double room and asked us to come back to the reception next day.
Next day they apologised and told us the room was a double room and there were no issues.

The hotel is 40 minutes away from the Duomo with tram number 14.
You can buy the tram tickets at the hotel. (1 euro per ride)
In the street behind the hotel there is a big supermarket so if you want to drink or get some candies you can go there.

The breakfast is great ! Unbelievable how good the breakfast is. (seems it's far for italian standards ;-))

People are friendly, rooms are great and clean. Only negative thing might be the tram ride takes 40 minutes. On the other side the hotel is quiet and on a relaxed location.
