From the website the hotel looks beautiful and comfortable. It is a short walk to the train station and it does have parking, which is a plus, but those are the only positives I saw to the hotel. The staff was very short and unaccommodating. In order to get into the hotel from the parking area you need to be escorted from the elevator, which was a nuisance, and the escort was the only friendly employee I dealt with. The elevators were tiny! Also, we had a roommate but the hotel only had one key for our room so we had to leave it with the front desk so he could also access the room when he needed it- and the staff weren't always there or wouldn't understand what we were talking about when we'd try to retrieve it!
Our room was a 2-bedroom 1-bath “family” room. Our roommate had a room with a twin bed, a couch, a table, and a very small television that only got a few channels. The carpet, the bed, couch, table, and tv, were all outdated and extremely worn. The table was broken and it collapsed a few times! The bathroom was clean yes, but the bathtub was so old and rusty and horrific in appearance, with the longest medieval-looking chain for the tub-stop, that I couldn’t allow my 2-year-old son to bathe in it alone and instead had to stand and shower him then pass him off to his father outside! The shower also splashed all over the place because the curtain was minimal, leaving the bathroom flooded after we’d shower, which made it annoying to use the toilet!
Our room itself was so bare it was like a joke! It had two rickety beds and an old run-down wardrobe-thing that looked so dusty and dirty we didn’t even want to touch it. The room smelled like mildew. The hotel has central heating and cooling, and because of this we were stuck in a scorching-hot room all night because they don’t turn the cooler on until peak season! I was so uncomfortable and sweaty I couldn’t even sleep! The bed and pillows were rock-hard and I was 30 weeks pregnant, so it was like torture! We had two nights booked in the hotel but we cut our Milan trip short just so we didn’t have to stay another night in the place!
The breakfast was good, the eating area was nice and stocked and clean and there were no problems there. A lot of people say “staying in European hotels is different than we’re used to in America, so don’t get your hopes up” but I have stayed in many beautiful and comfortable hotels in Europe that were roughly the same price so this hotel was a sheer disappointment.
If you’re a single traveler or you don’t have young kids (and especially if you’re not pregnant) this hotel might be worth it to you for the location, if you’re just needing somewhere to crash. However, if you’re pregnant or have a disability or young children, I’d say you’re better off staying somewhere more comfortable
