we stayed here just for a night. the good thing is that due to the central positioned we could take a short tour around the city centre despite the limited time (arrived late in the evening and left early in the morning). the room was ok, nice and clean with big bathroom. the breakfast was poor, with frosen croissants and cold food. the only good thing was the espresso. it was hard to find a proper table, as the cleaning of the tables was done pretty roughly.

To be fair, this hotel did not do anything wrong. It is in a good location, easy to check in and out and the hotel staff was helpful. The room was clean and the washrooms were renovated. However, the rooms and the hotel itself are very dated and not warm or welcoming. The bed was comfortable and the shower had good water pressure. If you need to be downtown, close to a metro station for a good price and are not picky about how old the room feels, this place will be fine. Our biggest issue is that there is no wifi in the rooms and in the lobby it is available for 2.50 per hour. Kind of lame. If we returned to Milan we would not stay here again.

We recently spent 4 nights in the Ritter. The first 3 nights were in a larger room with a nice bathroom. The fourth night was at the end of the trip and in a smaller room with a very cramped bedroom. I assume that while booking online I had booked different type rooms so my only comment there is to find out what size room you are booking.

The pricing is good but there are some gaps. First the street noise - and a local bar - make sleeping difficult. The other negative was lack of wifi in the rooms - and not always functioning in the lobby. The hotel clearly had business guests. Cannot imagine a business hotel not having decent internet connections.

I typically wouldn't judge a hotel by its shower alone. However the shower in Hotel Ritter was bad enough to taint my entire experience.

In general, Hotel Ritter seemed clean and decent for a 2-star hotel (not 3). The room was a fair size, but sparsely decorated. The room did have a safe, but it wouldn't open so I had the maid unlock it. Really bad/hard pillows, poor breakfast, and only soap dispensing machines in the bathroom solidified in my mind that this is surely not 3-star.

But, like I said the worst part was the shower. It had 1 setting - which was scalding hot. I little tinkering with the knob resulted in about 20 seconds of moderated temperature, before back to the scalding. Every so often it was instantaneously switch to ice cold. How pleasant those times were.

On top of the crazy shower, my room (#114) was directly above a dance club. The thudding base went on all night. If not had I been exhausted, I would not have slept at all.

I'd recommend skipping Hotel Ritter. There must be better options in downtown Milan.
