if you want to feel in history this is a good coose, rooms are like a house personels are profational every thik is perfect, just litle far from the centrum.thy have wonderful gardens . breakfast saloon like came from the 18. centruy,

My stay at the Grand Hotel et de Milan is by far the best experience i have had. Not just because the look and feel of the hotel itself but the staff were excellent and i couldn't have asked for anymore in terms of customer service. Arriving at the hotel late one night, i was advised that there was no reservation for me, I quickly realised that this was not the fault of the hotel but a fault of my travel booking company. Speaking with the staff they advised me that it was a particularly busy night but they would see what they could do. The duty manager got involved and despite this being an error on my part they couldnt have been more helpful. They were quick to re-assure me that they would do everything possible to ensure I was accomodated, especially as a lone female traveller, and that they did. They put me up in a wonderful room, and all the staff were simply excellent. If all hotels prided themselves on customer service the way the Grand Hotel does it would make staying away from home on Business much more enjoyable. I would like to say a personal thank you to all involved on that evening. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Milan, it's simply a beautiful hotel, the location is excellent, ideal for shopping and eating and the service standards from check-in, to bar and restuarant where the highest i've seen. I am looking really forward to staying there again next week.

If you like the classical Grand Hotel with marble, high ceilings, brass and polished wood, this is your place. If you want the Scala (3 min.), Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele (4 min.) and Duomo (5 min.) in walking range, this will make you happy. If you like impecable service, this hotel can deliver.

I am a regular visitornto Milan and have been staying here for the last ten or so (probably more) times I went to Milan for these reasons (and because it's on my company's list of approved hotels). I however have always struggled to get a quiet room, actually, I never got one I truly found quiet. In some rooms, you could swear the window is open due to the noise, altough it's closed. This is probably due to the old building, which some may find attractive. I am starting to find it disturbing.

I had a nice stay overall but was disappointed on some aspects.

On the positives, they let me check in early and late check out. The location is really nice, 5 min walk from the opera and in the middle of the shopping area.

I was however disappointed from the attitude of some staff. After I complained about the size and the darkness of the room, they changed me room but after being told I couldn't be upgraded because I wasn't paying the full rate (corporate rate), which I found a bit tacky.

Also at billing time, they charged me two tours instead of one (EUR44 extra) and after finding out it was their mistake, nobody apologised...

Finally, and this is the case of other 4/5* hotels, I would rather have free wifi than three cleaning services, choice of pillows etc!
