“Lovely!”

We booked two rooms at Camperio House, one deluxe and one classic, for 210 and 180 Euros per night, respectively, during the summer. The rooms were plush and tastefully decorated, and the breakfast was outstanding. We requested quiet rooms when we made reservations, and so enjoyed peaceful nights. Our deluxe room was spacious. We loved the location! This small boutique hotel lived up to our expectations and we would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: You might request a quiet room.

“Prime location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

We picked this hotel due to the reviews on tripadvisor and the listing on Tablet Hotels.com and we were pleased with the choice. The location was great - the hotel itself was quite an old building, but recently renovated. It is not a luxurious place, but it was comfortable for a short stay. The room was a decent size and the bed was very large.

Our room overlooked the courtyard, so we had no noisy streets to deal with, but it is located on quite a quiet street.

Definitely recommend pre-booking a car slot if you are driving. If not, the parking is one block away and was about 32 euros per 24 hour period.

The breakfast was served in a lovely lobby area with an exposed brick ceiling.

If you want a comfortable, friendly serviced (Stefano was very helpful) and well located hotel in Milan, I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We had an inside courtyard room on the fourth floor and it worked well for us.

“Convenient location to Milan sites and shopping”

We were booked at this hotel by a travel agent arranging my husband's travels for a speaking engagement. Not sure we would have known about it otherwise.

The pluses -
1. Location, just off Milan's main shopping street and about a 10 minute walk from the Duomo (near the "castle" and a city park)
2. Room size - we had a suite, decent value for the money. Small kitchen, 2 rooms, very nice bathroom with marble, tub, separate shower, bidet, etc.
3. The front desk staff - Luca especially was very helpful in answering emails before arrival and making recommendations
4. Rooms very clean
5. Nice solid breakfast, European style but also with eggs and bacon and a very friendly waiter
6. small lobby area where breakfast is served, but nothing like a large hotel lobby (this place feels like it's used by business travelers)

The less than perfect items --
1. ventilation system in bedroom was very noisy - something wrong with fan and it knocked. Tried to explain that but didn't get very far. Ended up turning it off entirely and luckily, room stayed comfortable (but they really should fix it in suite 2)
2. Noisy location - Milan streets are very narrow and although the car traffic dies down at night, you can hear people walking right below your window from early to late. If you are a light sleeper, this might not be for you.

Room Tip: Ask for the quietest one you can get (we stayed in suite 2, very comfortable but on the first floor)

“A hidden gem in a fabulous location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

My mother and I stayed at Camperio House for one night and it was perfect. The room was lovely, beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. The staff were so, so kind to us; my mother's bag was delayed en route and we received so much cheerful help trying to locate it (it did eventually show up). Best "continental" breakfast I had on my trip, again wonderful, kind staff. The hotel is not a busy hub, it is very very quiet right in the center of the old part of Milan. The Duomo is 5 minute's walk away. For a one-night stay in Milan it was perfect, we felt like we were able to see something of the city and make the most of our short stay.

I looked at many hotel listings before choosing Camperio House, but Camperio House had great reviews and was one of the least expensive options in the middle of Milan. I am so glad I chose it. Both my mother and I have wonderful memories of that short stay in Milan!

Happy travels!

Room Tip: We stayed in a regular room with two twin beds. It wasn't huge but was very, very nice for one...

“Milan heart breaker”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

This was a very pleasant surprise. It was the most expensive of our rooms in Italy, chosen because they were expansive in size, very well equipped and furnished, perfectly placed within a minute of the main shopping street and within 5min of the Duomo, and with good recommendations. It’s also close to all the cafes, the main train station, trams and buses. The suites are lavish in size and fittings (timber cabinets, double curtains, etc), overlook the street (can be noisy at evening and nights, and even at 4am when the diesel road sweeper roared back and forth 14 times to wake the neighbours up on Sunday morning) and come with free wi-fi, a big, soft bed and big armchairs. The bathroom - with a big bath - is also perfect. There is a lift (we were on the second floor) and for a bit of exercise, a curved staircase that edged a massive atrium. It was the only hotel where we didn’t specify secure parking - an unfortunate oversight because within an hour a group of youths smashed the car’s small quarter window and rummaged the glovebox and console. Nothing stolen - just inconvenient. Camperio staff Oxana and Luca quickly secured the car within their grounds and later within the proper park area. The lesson is to pre-book parking so the hotel can make space available. We walked everywhere possible in Milan and visited every church and took tours including the spectacle that is the Duomo. It is a city you must visit, but maybe just once. However, the hotel and the staff at Camperio were great. The hotel is pricey but worth it. You could possibly save the difference in taxi fares compared with a more out-of-city hotel because you can walk everywhere. Just remember that it’s within a part of the city that has no public car access on Sunday.

Room Tip: A room overlooking the courtyard could be quieter at night.
