“Clean Rooms at a Good Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2009

We spent one night at Albergo Bianchi Stazione and got what we were looking for: a large, clean room at a good price. Located across the station, it can be hard to drive to in traffic (one of us went in while the other circled back to the parking entrance, which was an extremely tight turn in heavy traffic). We had a room facing the inner courtyard (request this--it's much quieter). There was a huge shower and good overall bathroom, and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was quite basic, but good cappucino. Other hotels are closer to the sights here, but it's still only about 10 mnutes on foot. It was perfectly fine for one night--nothing fancy, but what we needed.

“A bit expensive for what it was”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2009

No frills hotel directly opposite of the Mantova train station. Rooms large, but rather basic, stark in terms of style and quality (small towels, harsh lighting). Some rooms open onto the inner courtyard.

Breakfast basic - nice croissants, but cheap fluorescent coloured juices.

There are much better options in Mantova (try the B&Bs) for the same or cheaper price, but if you are coming in late at night (many B&Bs do not have late check-in) the Albergo Bianchi Stazione is an decent enough choice.

“Good Clean Accomodation and Excellent Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2008

I've just returned from Italy on a business trip and stayed at 3 hotels. I would say that Albergo Bianchi stood out from the rest mainly for the very welcoming and friendly service that I recieved. Nothing was too much to ask for and they mostly all spoke good English. The accomodation was basic so for a business trip it was ideal for me. It was also very clean. When I first got there I had a problem with a shutter that wouldn't open and they quickly and swiftly moved me to another room no problem. Even though it is opposite the train station, the hotel is quite and there was no road noise although I was at the back. It is 10-15 minutes walk to the centre of Mantova which is a beautiful. If you're a runner like I am then then the gravel track around the lakes is just absolutely beautiful and a fine run but in July make it early 6.00 -6.30am or later in the evening as it can be very warm. I ate out in many places but loved the Europa restaurant opposite the hotel. Great pizza and very reasonable prices. Breakfast at the hotel was fine with nice croissants, fruit and cereal. Best cup of tea as well I've had in Europe. Overall I had a great stay. Thank you Albergo Stazione !!!

“Very nice family run hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2008

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in November, with my husband.
Style: this is a family run hotel, not very attractive from the outside however very comfortable inside. The hall is pleasant with armchairs and newspaper at your disposal, in case you have to wait before leaving.
Location: just in front of the train station. The area is safe and quite: Mantova is a very nice little town, and the train station is not surrounded by strange people, as usually in larger towns. The best location if you have a car, because downtown is mostly forbidden to cars. However you can reach it by a 10 mins walking from the hotel.
Rooms: The rooms are very spacious: the furniture is modest but comfortable, with a large wardrobe, a table, and two chairs. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning during summer and heaters in the winter. There are no carpets on the floor, and the hotel is very clean. The bathroom is not very big, but it has a large shower.
Food: very good for Italian tastes: choice of croissants, fruit jam, nut cream, corn flakes and yogurt, however they do not offer sausages, eggs, bacon, etc. so Germans and Britons may be disappointed. Staff: The hotel has been run by the same family since 40 years. The staff is at your disposal for every kind of advice: restaurant, excursions, where to buy gifts, etc.
The good: everything is made to make you feel comfortable
The bad: thin walls. If you have noisy neighbours it may be a bit hard.
Price: € 85 double room, included breakfast. This price is applies for longer staying.

“Good Cheap Option”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2007

For a hotel across the street from the train station, this is about as good as it gets. The rooms are ample size and very clean. The room has cold AC and a tiny fridge. The staff was very helpful and offered a discount to my entire party even though only my room was qualified. They had a decent breakfast and the location is about a ten minute walk from the city center. My experience was very positive. On the other hand, our companions who had a room in the same hotel had a lot of problems. Apparently, their room was a mosquito breeding ground. They easily killed nine bugs one night. The hotel did offer them an electric mosquito coil but it didn't do the trick. Why Italy is averse to window screens is beyond me, especially in Mantova which is surrounded on three sides by water and especially if the staff makes a point of opening the windows during the day to air the room. This isn't really the hotels fault but killing bugs all night can detract from the stay.

  • Liked — The staff and the location
  • Disliked — Lots of mosquitos
